❤️ 5 ways to Stop Overthinking things! ❤️

in #love7 years ago

Do you ever get caught up in your head? Does it leave you paralyzed in fear? I sure have, and boy does it not feel great. It’s like being in a nightmare where you are trying to run away from a monster, but your feet are slowly melting into quicksand…. your efforts in trying to escape are useless. This could be a result of overthinking things. As a planner, I must constantly remind myself to not overthink situations or make them a bigger deal than they really are.

Here are 5 habits that can help prevent overthinking.

Have perspective
Realize that the world will not stop just because of one decision you make. Having perspective and taking a step back when looking at a situation, can help you from overthinking. Evaluate all your choices, make the best decision with the given information, and then don’t look back. You will save so much energy and time.

Put a timer on it
If you are having a hard time making up your mind, try limiting your time. This will help you meet deadlines and make decisions quicker and more effectively.

Spend time in the present moment
While planning is not a bad thing, over planning can be. I often find myself thinking too much about the future instead of being present. Slow down and focus on what you are doing. You can’t change the past, you can’t predict the future, but you can live in the moment.

Don’t let fear overwhelm you
It is easy to let your imagination run wild, and get lost in vague fears. You could play the “what if” game for hours if you don’t keep yourself in check. Ask yourself if your fears are real or irrational. If they are irrational, remind yourself of that and try your best to not get stuck.

Exercise
If you are still having trouble moving on and making a solid decision, you are probably going to be pretty stressed out. Working out can relieve pent up energy and help you destress. When you come back more level headed and calm, it will clear your mind and give you clarity in your situation.

Very good article and interesting ways😊

Having perspective probably the most important, we get so caught up in the moment that the molehill becomes a mountain, thank you @karensuestudios :)

Yes, it's so easy to do this... it's good to step back sometimes and reflect!

Nothing can beat a good exercise! 😃 I even think exercise can help in solving most of the problems. Laziness, nervousness, stress, etc. I guess it helps if we just stop doing what we do and takes our mind off it for awhile

I recently started rock climbing, and it is such a great way to relieve stress... you are just so focused on not falling off the wall! Lol

Wow rock climbing. That is so cool!
