Yes, you are right. On general.
But the truth is even when it’s an illusion the desire is there to gain many followers. Especially in the beginning.

The history of social media planted in us the imagination that the amount of followers determines your social worth within the community.

It’s not true but it’s like a solid castle inside of us. Difficult to take down.
I can understand it, but the reality will catch you what is good in my opinion. Could hurt but the result is good.

I think that especially steemit show it in a good way that amount of follower= your social worth is misleading.

This is true. But if no one reaches the content it's the goal is not achieved.

So you have to lead them to reach your content. After that the King is able to play :)
