THE REAL REASONS WHY PEOPLE RESIST CHANGE OUTRIGHT IN MY NATION

in #writing6 years ago

The world is such a dynamic place that the most of the things that used to be are now obsolete or have been completely transformed in such a way that you can't compare the old stuff to the newer versions of themselves. Revolution has taken over things like computers, televisions and mobile phones so that they are completely different from how they one's were. There are newer things in the system now like the internet, block-chain and Cryptocurrencies.

I grew up watching people in the society and I realized that almost everyone always knew what the problems were and all they'd do is keep on laying blames. Where there is a problem there is a need for change right? That's what I thought. I remember back in high school during social studies lessons where we learnt the reasons why people resist change and we had points like, Connected to old ways, fear of unknown, low communication, poor communication and the likes, but I think in this present age most of these points are just excuses. So I'll share with you my reasons why people resist change while using crypto-currencies and blockchain as my point of

  • THEY LACK KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
The first step to doing something new or changing lifestyles is to have more information about what you want to change to and have a fair grasp of what it entails and how it's all going to go on. When I first started hearing about bitcoin and blockchain and the likes, I first felt that it was a bit complicated but then with time I'll get to understand it because I was constantly reading, exploring expanding my knowledge on anything computer or Information Technology. Imagine those who barely know how to operate their own PC's being told about blockchain technology and how there's this digital currency that's just numbers and having no one to manage it. It'll be unfathomable for them.

The fact that they'll never be exposed to more information on that even worsens the issue. People won't spend time to explore the ever growing world of INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.

Kofi Annan once said that. "Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family."

  • PURE HUMAN GREED

Before the birth of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies and financial liberation the money of the people where handled by banks who made their profits out of such monies. Governments also placed taxes on the people's money to cater for civil servants and the development of the Nation. However, the supposed Country's money end up in the pockets of its Leaders.

Since they can only siphon a part of the money as long as it makes it way past their desks in the form of documents, they turn to strongly discredit any decentralized platform; Blockchain and all cryptocurrencies included. Many banks would also fight against it because then they'd be loosing a great portion of their source of funds. Thus their fight to the death against Decentralization.

  • THE NEED TO HOLD SOMEONE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR PROBLEMS
I said earlier that I watched people in the society as I grew up and one great flaw I realised was that anytime there was a problem, the very first thing that people instinctively did was to begin to shower blames on each other; We blame our education system when the country's people can't make the country a better place, We blame the government for no jobs when there are many unemployed university graduates.

You'd see people blaming the government for bad market days, choked gutters, and piled rubbish. People like that would never engage themselves in any blockchain or cryptocurrency brigade as long as it's decentralized. They just can't fathom that they won't be able to lay blames on anyone else when they are faced with a problem.

My life motto is 'Do my best, so that I can't blame myself for anything.'
Quote by Magdalena Neuner

I think it is easy for anyone to accept and adapt to changes as long as they are prepared to. In the same way I think it's important that we actually flow with the process of time and evolution. We find ourselves in a time that you will find it difficult to adjust to the current trends using the old ways. Revolution and change is gonna happen. It's our choice whether we are going to be a part of it or not.

You pointed those reasons well. Change must start from within and needs cooperation. One man is not enough when the rest will just gobble him up. We have become complacent because of greed. We can take responsibility but only up to a point. We only want to listen to and learn what our hearts desire.
