"Get out of the way dammit" Tomi all but welled at every one in front of him while honking the horn of the car and getting on the nerves of other road users, but he couldn't care less for all that, he drove like all of hell was after him. He was living his worst nightmare right now and he had never wanted someone to wake him from it more than anything.

Anyone who knows Lagos very well and it's everyday busy-ness would know speeding on a high way is nearly impossible, what, with the never ending traffic.
Other road users concluded he was either crazy or on the high way to death. Some tagged him a maniac who was probably high on a substance, that wasn't his problem.

"Get out of the way!" he yelled for what seemed like the 100th time, for Tomi the world was just too slow at the moment and he wasn't having it one bit... With the bad medical services of providing an ambulance to accident scenes in Nigeria, this was his only option.

2hours earlier...

" you guys need to start going, like right now" Ewa said.
She watched as her best friend and his fiancee Gina wouldn't stop gushing over each other. One would think that with how long they have been together, they would eventually tire each other out but that wasn't the story, their love got stronger.
" Thank you so much for this again Ewa" Remi said. A chubby girl who had all the curves in all the right places and stood at just 5ft6, always all smiles and beautiful.
"I can't wait to get to our hotel, from the brochure the hotel sent, this weekend is going to be sick" she continued
"yes thank you E" Tomi backed up what his fiancee had just said.

"Are you sure you are going to be OK by yourself?" he teased his bestfriend

"we can most definitely put you in our luggage, you would fit just right" he continued.

"oh I bet I would" Ewa said as she gave her bestfriend and the love of his life a hug and broomed them both out of her house. She had something to do and with their flight 6 hours away, you can never predict the traffic of Lagos.
They waved their final good bye and drove out of the beautiful 2 story building that was home to just one person.

Ewa walked up the stairs that leads to her room, her house had 4 bed rooms, one she had turned into a walk in closet, a girl can never have too much clothes, especially when you own a fashion line.
she looked one last time at the little letter she had dropped on her bed, she had finally found a way to put an end to the depression in her life that has been there for so long a time and she wasn't about to butt out of it.

Her gateman didn't understand why his madam was so uptight and silent as she walked briskly past him with her normal smile that seemed to be painted on her face.
He definitely got more confused as she took a taxi and not one of her 3 sports car.

"Take me to the pleasure park" Ewa said to the middle age driver that had stopped for her
"madam it's 2500 naira" the driver replied in a typical Yoruba accent
"I would give you 3000 naira if you go steady on the speed" she smiled as she replied the driver.
"of course madam, I go do as you like" he replied with a huge grin.
Money wasn't her problem, and if she was going to change her life, she was sure going to ride as she liked for one last time.

Oh my! I think I forgot the sample rings" Tomi said to his fiancee as he searched his pocket.

"why did you even take it out of your pockets in the first place?

"don't yell, It is a common mistake, what do we do?" he asked his bride to be

"call Ewa, see if she can help us bring it to the airport, we are almost close and can't go back now!"

He tried his bestfriend cell phone number for what seemed like 30th time with no luck.
"look I think I have to go over and pick it up, she isn't answering her cell, probably working on a new design"

"we would definitely miss our flight" his fiancee said with a frown

"would you rather get married without a ring, because I can" he teased

"OK, but hurry up, we already spent 15 minutes on a spot"

"sure I will, Alex please stop the car" he replied as he gave her a quick kiss and alighted the car.

He quickly stopped an overpriced taxi and didn't have the time to bargain the price as he asked to be taken to where he was going.

He walked into his best friends house a little while later as there where no traffic on the highway leading to her street. He found the rings on the sofa, "how did I drop you here" he thought to himself as he called out Ewa's name.
"Ewa? Are you there" he screamed up the stairs as he decided seeing her face one last time wouldn't hurt a soul

"Ewa?, working on a new ugly design for the mad man down you street. He continued as he walked into her home office. It was empty

"Ewa! He shouted one more time as he headed for her room. He knew from earlier that she had no where to go because she would have mentioned it and surely planned it out. That was what she was, a planner, planned to the very last detail.
She had paid fully for the trip he and his fiancee was about to take, it was her gift to him she would say but he knew she had more and he also knew trying to stop her from getting any more gift for him was useless.

"Ewa, hide your guns I'm coming in to your room" he said as he opened the door to her room. It was empty
"are you in the shower?" he called out as his eyes went to the little envelope her bed that read READ ME

"Ewa I think you have a love letter, I'm going to open it if you don't come out" he had to admit the house was all too quiet for his liking so he did what the letter said, he read it.

Dear whoever gets to this first

When I was little, growing up I never fully understood what life was all about because I could only remember been happy, mum and dad weren't rich but we had what we needed to survive. Then I had a dream and the reality of it all struck. We had nothing anymore and it didn't look like it would ever get better. I have worked all my life to get to where I am today and yes I did it, I predicted my future by creating it and when the realization of it all hit me I knew that I had become so poor all I had was money. I live my life in complete pain and loneliness and depression....

Tomi didn't like where the letter was going so he skipped to the end and all he could see was "body" "dead" "property" "goodbye"

In that split little moment, everything in his brain seemed to stop, he lost it and did what he could think of doing at the moment. He searched for her car keys and took the stairs three at a time, his heart was racing and he prayed he was early enough. France was but a far thought to him right now.
"oga Tomi, everything dey alright?" the gateman asked in pigin language as he had a concerned worried look on his face

"just open the gate Musa" he replied as he got into the car and reversed with all the control he could muster because he was loosing it.

"Get out of the way" he kept screaming at other road users, he was close to the address she had written down which she only left so that her body could be found.

He jumped out of the car some 30 minutes later and raced to the part other park he knew well. It was her favorite place in the world because it was what it was, beautiful and amazing. It was were you go to be lost in the arms of Mother Nature, he ran faster than he could've dream of running and when he got tired, he kept running g.

"how dare you! He shouted as he got to the Spot. So it was true, she was going to end her life. He was hoping to God that it would be all a big prank and there would just be some angry feeling flying around but no it was all real and that only made him more upset. She was standing at the edge of a cliff, down below was a beautiful steam that flowed when it wanted and sometimes was still., they had both being here a few times together but she came more often whenever she could, when she wasn't busy saving the world and those she cared about.

"What are you doing here? How did you... You aren't suppose to be here" she said with tears streaming down her face.

"Don't you dare, I mean how could you" he yelled at her. The truth of it all was hurting him to his bones, while he was relieved she was alive he was horrified. He walked towards her and only then did he notice that she was holding a knife

"stay back, don't come closer and don't think you can stop me" she said pointing the knife towards him

"then make me understand" he yelled at her. He was loosing his temper but he was sure they were so many other feelings he couldn't name.

"I need peace" she yelled back "I want to be my own hero for once"

"by doing this? By taking your own life?

"whose life am I supposed to take?" she replied

Sarcasm, that was always her best defense, even in a situation like this. He got more angry.

"you are loved by many, you can't..."

"I am used by many" she said cutting him off as more tears flowed from her eyes.

"you are wrong Ewa and you know it" he said stepping closer to her but staying a safe distance from her weapon.

She cried out as he stepped close to her, she wouldn't let him as she stepped back, close to the edge of the cliff with her knife pointed towards him

"maybe, maybe not" she said mid tears

"please let's go home, I beg of you, and I promise you I would... "

"there is absolutely nothing you can do, it's too late and useless" she said swinging the knife at him as he got closer.
Neither of them realizing she wasn't the edge of the cliff. Tomi plunged towards her as he couldn't watch anymore, in a bus to drag her back to solid ground, a stone beneath her left foot gave way and she with it.

Fear washed over Tomi, it all happened in a flash and when he rushed to the safe side of the edge of the cliff, he saw what he feared, Ewa in a he own blood and looking completely lifeless.

He ran to her side in seconds and was scared to touch her, if she was dead he wouldn't forgive himself, forever.
She was loosing blood as the once colourless stream was flowing steady with her blood.

He did what came to mind first, he screamed...
