Marlborough, have you been?

🌳Just another reason to fall in love with New Zealand!🌳

If you're a fan of Sauvignon Blancs, then you're probably familiar with the Marlborough Region in New Zealand. It has a reputation for making some of the world's best wines, and to top it off the region is STUNNING! Being at the Northeastern tip of the South Island, it is surrounded by the Marlborough Sounds, small islands, and coastal waterways, and makes for views that would make your jaw drop.

With more than 120 wineries, the region has no shortage of wines to drink and tours to take. When you're in a new country it's not a bad idea to book a tour, as they know their way around and you don't have to worry about who will be the designated driver. We chose to drive because we wanted to have some extra freedom to go to some wineries that weren't part of the tours, but I think next time we might do a tour just to be able to kick back and relax a bit more. Driving on the opposite side of the road can be stressful!

Our first stop was Brancott Estate. Marlborough is a relatively new wine region, having only kicked things off in the 1970's, and Brancott Estate was responsible to creating Marlborough's very first Sauvignon Blanc. It has gone on to become one the most iconic brands in New Zealand. The winery is situated at the top of a pretty steep hill, so if you're not up for the hike up (the parking lot is at the bottom), wait for their shuttle to come and pick you up.

Cloudy Bay Vineyards was another one we loved. I've been to a lot of Cellar Doors, and this was definitely one of the most inviting!

If you're ever in New Zealand, make an effort to spend a couple of days here and enjoy the beauty of the region. I'm already trying to figure out when we'll be going back next!

Have you been to Marlborough? Tell me about your favourite wineries there!

Thanks for reading.

Wow, what could be better than drinking wine and looking at scenery like that? If I ever go I think I'll have someone else do the driving though, so I can do more of the tasting.
