Hot Pumpkin Custard Drink Recipe

1 egg, whisked with 1 1/2 tsps sugar OR 1 tsp Pyure
2/3 cup almond or coconut milk
1/8 tsp gluccomanan or xanthan gum
1/8 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 1/2 Tbl pumpkin puree
1/8 tsp vanilla
hefty pinch of salt
fresh ground pepper
1 Tbl butter

Blend almond milk, gluccomanan, pumpkin, pie spice, vanilla, salt and better for about 30 seconds to thoroughly combine. Place in a small saucepan over low heat and bring to about 160 degrees (hot but not boiling). Whisk into the egg mixture in a slow, steady stream until combined. Pour through a strainer back into the pan and continue cooking, whisking constantly, until mixture thickens (do not boil). Immediately remove from heat and continue whisking while adding butter. Whisk until butter is melted. (If you stop whisking, the egg can curdle and you have scrambled egg pumpkin custard...)

Great show! Yall are naturals at this. Keep up the good work. I felt like such a goober cus when y'all said hi to me on the video I said hi back ......like you could here me. Great show.

I'm glad you liked it! By the time we make it to Season Four, we'll be pros!

y'all said hi to me on the video I said hi back

That was my intended effect. My goober communicator is working tonight! LOL

@ironshield

I don't think it will take you that long, by season 2 you're going to have intro music, you'll be live streaming on YouTube, abd you'll take questions from the chat room maybe.

Feel like I’m getting to know you all a little:) Good job!

Thank you! I'm glad we have an audience! Thanks for watching. @ironshield

It's so nice to be able to put more of a voice and temperament to your writings. I couldn't watch much because of crappy internet, but I enjoyed what I was able to see :) You two are wonderful.

Thank you! Boy, I hope the Internet gets better - you need it for your goals.

When we first met it was entirely through writing and Ben was worried that after all our deep conversations I would think he was goofy in person. But one reason I married him is because we could sit and talk for a long, long time every day for months and not run out of different things to think about together.

I will be back home on Sunday and then I will have to get really serious at night. The internet back home should be okay and my husband will be looking into getting some mobile internet we can take with us to the island.

I have known my husband since 1995 when we started kindergarten. There's no secrets, no bad haircuts or awkward phases we don't know about. ;)

Oh goodness, you started kindergarten in 1995?!?!

I now feel ancient...

It's good and very special to have that long history with your husband. I sometimes wish Ben and I had that time, but God knew what he was doing!

Oh, please don't. You are probably much wiser given more years on the earth :)

God has a way of matching us right. Whether early or late.

Lol, well, the "wiser" is always debatable.

He does. We couldn't have been matched any earlier and I'm sure glad we have the time that we do!

We had so much fun, even in the rain! 😊

Love pickled okra! Glad your cheese was cheesy. ;) I make yogurt too in my Instant Pot! I've canned a few things as well. We are definitely wanna-be homesteaders as well. Looks like you guys had another fun time!! Thanks for sharing part of your lives with us!

I like making THM chocolate shakes with the okra and using it in soup (it's fantastic in chili and all the mucilage offsets some of the stomach upset that can happen with chili...).

Cheesy...yep, that was a scintillating description. If we're going to do live food tasting as a thing, we should start brainstorming ways to accurately describe what we're eating. I'm just concerned Ben's going to start doing Chopped-level weird food. Next up: chocolate covered locusts or something like that. Ack!

The big concern I've had with the Instant Pot yogurt is that the milk would get flavored by garlic and onion from the rubber seal. Do you use a different seal or has this just not been a problem? Right now I use a 1-gallon Pyrex covered bowl with a heating pad and a bath towel. I've thought about using a Wonder Cooker (like a pillowcase filled with styrofoam beads) too.

Lol...we are so far from being ready for homesteading it's sometimes embarrassing. I'm a pretty proficient canner since I've been doing it since I was little, but there are a LOT of other skills we need. We keep plugging away and eventually when our kids are at a better age we might be in a stronger position to consider getting different property.

It was fun! Thanks for watching. :-)

Our instant pot lid smells like chili, but our yogurt never has had any flavor to it. Since it doesn't seal or pressurize, I wonder if that keeps the smells from getting into it. I'm not sure. My husband said we should start doing beans and chili in the regular pressure cooker and reserve the IP for yogurt. Lol. I like the trying new food segments on your videos. It would be kind of hard to describe some stuff, I'm sure! ;) We have land to do some homesteading, but no time or green thumbs. All of our thumbs are pretty well brown.... ;) Shakes with okra sounds interesting and so does chili! I have really only had it fried or pickled. I had this favorite pickled kind in Texas...one pregnancy I craved it. I would be in trouble if I had that craving here!

Hm, well, maybe I should give it a try then! I have all the stuff for the next batch of yogurt.

Here's a link to the shake - not sure if you can get the ingredients, but I actually enjoy it even with the okra!

I'm not sure if we're going to keep food tasting or just do it when we have something interesting...personally, I wonder if eating on video should be done every single week -grin-

Maybe next week we should do the chocolate dreamy shake without telling Ben about the okra...

Yeah, definitely hard to find a few of the ingredients, but it sure looks tasty!

It was fun! Thanks for watching. We'll try to get one in per week. @ironshield

Awesome video guys! You make a great team. Keep up the good work on the videos. I missed the first one so I will definitely go back and watch!

Thanks for watching! I agree, me and my girl are a good team. @ironshield

@ironshield

I'd say a perfect team! Don't change a thing! It works.

Aw, Ceci...

The funny thing is this isn't that much different from our usual chats only we have to write down what we're going to talk about or we'll meander all over for hours.

How fun to have a visit from @essentialoilmom! Was their a specific reason for the trip or just to come visit? I think you two are naturals behind the camera! I look forward to future episodes. How long will a season last? Also, are those cups from target? Because then we have the same ones!

@essentialoilmom was visiting her sister who lives like 15 minutes from them, and she's picking up my sister to bring her down here to visit us and my folks for a week.

@essentialoilmom was here to visit family and it turned out they were surprisingly close to us. Happy for us!

Aw, thanks!

Heh...I have no idea about the seasons. We'll have to discuss.

The cups are from Macy's - they're from the dishes we registered for before our wedding since I already had china. We really like them. It's a really popular look right now, though, to have the dark outside and the colorful inside.

howdy sir ironshield! sorry no time to watch a video tonight but I wanted to stop by and show my support for you guys. God bless you both!

Thank you for your support @janton.

thank you sir ironshield, I am trying to find a balance so I will have more time to watch shows like yours. The Engagement League has me pretty tied up full time.

It's amazing how you can end up finding multiple full-time jobs on Steemit. It could seriously chew up entire work days!

haha! yes Ma'am after awhile you have to seriously seek God and be led by Him because of all the options. You have to have a delicate balancing act or is it not a problem for you?

It's a delicate balancing act. There are a lot of things I'd like to be involved in, such as Writer's Block projects and Needlework Mondays and some homestead photo contests and curating for Build-a-Whale, but it seems like there are so many places for time to go I have to resign myself to just staying involved on the edges.

Maybe Steemit will still be around when I'm retired. -grin-

haha! hey won't that be something if steemit can become a way of life and we can retire on it and keep working at it for continuous growth and income? that's a great vision there!
You shouldn't have to wait until you're retired though, just until the kids are older like into their teens and you can spend more time in steemit if it's still here. by then it should have taken over the world in social media and you guys will be some kind of giant guru leaders! lol.

Yep, that would be quite a vision and quite a surprise - never pictured being able to retire on the income from a blog, let alone on crypto income.

Well, THESE kids might be teens but I make no promises there might not be more behind them... -grin-

I got told in the grocery store today that I really need to figure out "what's causing all that", pointing to my cart full of kids. He then smiled and said they were cute, so I expect he was just being funny.

You two are doing great and it is only episode 2!!! Oh and thanks for dressing up...the loose tie was a nice touch! :-)

Glad you guys liked the cheese! Sorry it wasn't too interesting...:D Next time it will be interesting. :D Hopefully not disgusting. Makes me want to do a vlog!
