Success at Utopian Speed - When the right team makes the real difference

in #utopian-io6 years ago (edited)

We could not be prouder of our team. The speed at which moderation and reward distribution activities were resumed in Utopian, their involvement and passion about the project are truly inspiring and are undoubtedly our biggest strength.

Today we are happy to be sharing another set of updates our team was able to develop and deploy in record speed and efficiency.

New Utopian Bot

Thanks to @amosbastian our new Utopian bot is live and voting. It was developed fully with Python for maximum speed and scalability. It has some new cool features, while maintaining the best functionalities of the previous bot.

Voting Power

The new bot does not begin voting until its voting power is charged to 99.9% power, and casts a new vote every 5 minutes. This allows us to ensure the vote is fair for every contribution, without having to consume the power down to 80%.

Voting Distribution

The score assigned by a moderator remains the most important metric for the bot to decide the voting weight along with the age of the submission. The highest scored contributions will always be voted first as long as there is available VP.

The new bot is Open Source: https://github.com/utopian-io/utopian-bot

New Review System

Thanks to the amazing work of @ms10398 the new https://review.utopian.io was born.

This helper tool allows Moderators to properly and easily score contributions based on a very specific and well thought set of questions, defined and worded by some of the best professionals on this blockchain.

Transparency

After receiving feedback from the community asking for transparency on the assigned score, we’ve launched the new https://review.utopian.io service.

It allows moderators access to a public page URL that contains in it all the questions and answers picked during the review, for the contributors to note to improve their future contributions.

The review tool is Open Source: https://github.com/utopian-io/review.utopian.io

New Tipping Bot

Meaningful and constructive comments are important to the Utopian community. We would like to recognize and incentivize the most valuable comments left by our Moderators, CMs and community members.

Thanks to amazing work of @ms10398 we now have https://tip.utopian.io.
Community Managers can use this tool to assign a significant 1% tip by the Utopian bot to exceptional comments left by Moderators and community members.

We hope this will incentivize the community to provide the best curated content that may be of value to others as well.

Translations are Coming BACK!

We have been working hard to come up with a new framework to resume the review and rewarding of translation contributions. We are working with a professional team of translators in creating a workflow and review system to make it possible for you to resume contributing in this category.

Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement in the coming weeks!

Utopy

We believe our community deserves only the best of the best. For this reason we are trying to provide everyone with the best tools and materials to become better Open Source contributors.

Recently added to our team is an experienced social media manager and Open Source enthusiast, entrusted to provide our Discord community with valuable Open Source materials, Utopian freebies and open teaching sessions in our community chat server.

To ensure this account is directly associated with Utopian, we’ve decided to use the opportunity to adopt a mascot, and we’re reaching out to the community to help us design Utopy, the Utopian mascot.

For details, check the task request posted here.

Wonderful work, I love seeing how they progressed and achieved everything in such a short time, many successes continue like this!

Thank you for the kind words. It is with the support from all the community that we strive, grow, and keep going.

Glad they recovered from the hack.

That better way of voting for the bot, you really done a good job @amosbastian, that way @elear utopian-io bot will always give a high Vote Power to contributors.

Guys that s impressive! I have mentionned the transparency like 3-4 days ago and you ve already done all that! Thanks a lot @ms10398, @amosbastian can't wait to see your bot in action ;)

Your suggestion did make a lot of sense! :)

So glad to see the bot being updated so it supports 'continous' voting! Thanks a lot @amosbastian! Also happy to see all other changes. Way to go guys!

Thanks a lot @jefpatat. Glad to see https://www.steemmakers.com/ is evolving as well!

Still leisure time fun and learning. Surprised you are aware of what we're doing :-D. Flattered actually.

Great guys, you rock and NOTHING can stop you!
That bot looks amazing, well done @amosbastian!

This is great to hear. Amos has been a huge help with his Python skills and he made several tools for Utopian, including the new voting bot.

Amazing work! I wish I had more time so that I could also contribute more.

Nice work @elear and team. Yeah, there's definitely speed at the moderation rate for some categories like the suggestions category, bug hunting, and maybe development. Others especially copywriting is still very low and the rate of rejection is high.

However, I appreciate all the hardwork from the CMs and mods such as @amosbastian, @codingdefined, @imwatsi and several others. If I had medals, I'd give them to you guys!

Kudos! We are Utopian!!

Thanks so much @neduzze5! We try our best to make sure every contribution is reviewed and scored in time! Some may take longer but none is ever left unreviewed :)

Yeah, I know. I have seen a few however, which exceeded the seven days window and there was no comment. I believe it's because of the new system in place which makes it really hard to find and go through all contributions. Despite that, I still give the team a lot of kudos. And to you, Sir @elear, three hearty cheers... hip, hip, hip, hurray!!

We have an automated database which spots and presents contributions to our mods. Some contributions may have the wrong tags which makes impossible for our DB to find them. As long as the proper tags are used it should be fine. https://join.utopian.io/rules contains all the specs.

I guess that's what the contributor did wrong then. Kudos once again.

Great announcemet as usual. Who does reconize the best comment? How is it declared as useful for community?

I would say "go and check the code and you will know buddy"!! Cheers

What if someone doesn't understand the code?

Thanks... let's see how it works... hoping for the best

@programminghub comments are picked by our CMs based on the suggestions contained in them, length of the comments and other metrics. As long as the comment brings value to the contributor or the community as a whole, it may be picked for a tip.

if someone does not understand the code well i would say use the common sense of logic..."what/how could make a bot tip for a good comment ??" i would say, pertinent comments so no short comments such as "nice work !!" or "i like it !!" but real comments with a certain length or maybe with some keywords related to the post. Not wanting to come against you at all but i think it is quite obvious concept

Ace to see the team rolling out even more updates! Nice work 💯🎉

Thank you!

finally the translation category is coming back ❤️❤️❤️❤️
