Episode: Part 21

The dead had risen. It was mentioned in the bible, but, no one had seen it happen as far as they all knew. Now things had a whole different level of difficulty. Larry had barricaded them into the house quite effectively, and, they had no trouble that night.

When they awoke the next morning, the house was permeated with the smells of breakfast. Rose smelled bacon and pancakes and coffee, real coffee. Coffee was rare nowadays, international trade was not what it used to be. Rose rose and got dressed, drawn by the delicious aromas.

When she got downstairs, Larry and Dale, all clean now, greeted her and asked her to sit down at the dining table. First Alex, then Gage joined her. They ate the scrumptious breakfast spread that the brothers had laid out for them. Rose started the conversation.

"We will have to travel only during the day and we will have to stay in solid shelter. I hope that us all we will see if them, but, I doubt it. Also, I didn't get any Warnings about the dead, so, I don't think it was God. Satan must have sent them. He is desperate to have me dead." She said all in one breath.

"We need something faster to travel in," said Gage, "the wagon is fast, but, we are limited by the horses."

"How about I take you to Boston, you can do whatever you need to do. I need a new horse, and Boston is a good place to trade for one. When we are finished, we can come back here and you can take your horses and wagon from here." Larry offered.

"What kind of transport do you have?" asked Alex.

Larry answered, "I have an old military truck in the barn. I make my own fuel for it, too. We can get to Boston and back in just a couple if days. It is just a few hours drive from here, barring obstructions."

The siblings agreed that it would be a lot better if they could get there quickly and get back here to continue their journey west.

A few hours later, they were headed northeast on the interstate at over 60mph! They saw no dead, at first.
