Penguins at Boulders Beach, Cape Town - South Africa.

in #travelfeed5 years ago

How's it going Travelfeeders and Steemers??

Only 10 days to go until we are on holidays!.. back to Africa for another month camping on a overland safari woohoo!!

I was just going through some photos from our last Africa trip and found these cool shots from Boulders Beach.

Boulders Beach is a nature preserve and is home to hundreds of African Penguins.

Located near Simonstown. Entry fee to the board walk is R152 for adults and R76 for children. Which is a fair price to pay to keep these little guys safe and their home protected. Just make sure you get there early as the line up to get in is huge!

But if you book a day trip with a tour company, you get to see alot of Cape Town and get to jump the line at Boulders Beach. 😁

While we were there, all the penguins were moulting and growing new feathers. So they have to stay out of the water as they are not waterproof while they moult.

This process takes around three weeks to grow new feathers. None the less, it was still alot of fun to watch these little guys clumsily walking along the sand.

And some who weren't moulting were swimming in the water.

The African Penguins are now considered endangered. As there are now only around 25,000 breeding pairs left in the world.

It was so cool to see penguins in the wild. They are super cute!!

Boulders Beach is definitely worth checking out when in Cape Town!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Travels!!

Hey man, sounds awesome! Are you posting along the way or waiting until you get back?

Hey man, not sure how many WiFi opertunitys I will have as we will be camping on a overland safari. So I will try and update the adventure as we go. Then post the rest when we are back home. See what happens 😊

Cool. You've been before? Would be an awesome adventure I reckon.

Yes last Christmas we did an overland safari from Victoria Falls through Botswana, Namibia then down to Cape Town over 3 weeks. We got really good at setting up our tent haha.

it was such an awesome adventure that the moment we got back to aus we booked another trip haha. 1 payment to go and it's all paid off and on the plane we go.

This time it will be East Africa. Tanzania then Uganda to trek for the gorilla's and finish off the trip in kenya.

The count down is on!

Amazing! Such great life experiences! Well, if I don't get to say so later...Have a great trip! Take photos...As if I have to remind you 😉
