World’s Top 10 Airlines for 2017

Winners of the 2017 World Airline Awards were announced by the Britain-based consultancy Skytrax during the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Airport on June 20, in Paris, France. Hailed as the global benchmark in airline excellence, the awards were decided after holding a worldwide survey that covered 320 airlines and measured standards of over 45 key performance indicators. Skytrax received 19.87 million completed surveys, which was conducted from August 2016 to May 2017. Here is a countdown to the top 10 airlines.

  1. Qatar Airways
    Apart from winning the Airline of the Year title for the fourth time, Qatar Airways also received some other major awards – the World’s Best Business Class, the World’s Best First Class Lounge and the Best Airline in the Middle East.

  2. Singapore Airlines
    Singapore Airlines won the following awards – Best Airline in Asia, the World’s Best Business Class Seat and the Best Premium Economy Onboard Catering.

  3. All Nippon Airways (ANA)
    The largest airline in Japan came third this year and won two major awards for the World's Best Airport Services and Best Airline Staff Service in Asia.

  4. Emirates
    Based in Dubai, the largest airline in the Middle East picked up awards for World's Best Airline Inflight Entertainment and Best First Class Comfort Amenities.

  5. Cathay Pacific
    Operating from the its main hub at Hong Kong International Airport, the airline operates a fleet of wide-body aircraft including Boeing 777 and Airbus A330.

  6. EVA Air
    The Taiwanese international airline took top spot in two categories – World's Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness and Best Business Class Comfort Amenities.eva.jpg

  7. Lufthansa
    The largest German airline was voted the No. 1 airline in three categories – the Best Airline in Europe, Best Airline in Western Europe and Best First Class Airline Lounge Dining.

  8. Etihad Airways
    The second largest airline of the UAE won three major awards in the first class categories – World's Best First Class, Best First Class Seat and Best First Class Onboard Catering.

    Headquartered in Haikou, China, the airline was given the award of the Best Airline in China and Best Airline Staff Service in China.
