Asia Adventure: Part 1... Singapore

in #travel7 years ago

Asian continent was on my list for soooo long! Finally we took the decision to go there for two weeks and the journey started with Singapore.
First of all, we were excited for travelling from Frankfurt to Singapore in an airbus A380 for the first time. The plane is so huge seen live that kind of freaks you out!

Apart of being a loooong flight (12/13h) we had a pretty decent experience. Nice flight attendants, very clean plane, amazing plane stability, good movies, games and good food.

Prior to landing we were given papers to fill in to enter the country and we immediately understood the seriousness of the country. Death to drug traffickers... very clear warning!

After one of the longest flights of my life we were in Singapore! That city is really fabulous. As soon as you get a sight of the streets you understand how organized and civilized the city is. Imagine that chewing guns are forbidden, preventing you to pollute the streets! Or spiting on the floor... Rules that make sense if you really think about it. Since the commun sense in the least commun thing, some rules have to put everything in order.

We stayed in Conrad Centennial hotel. Quiet, central and luxurious place, really recommend.

The room had a good view to Suntec City Fountain, surrounded by big building.
A little side note: first thing we did when we got to the hotel was working out (‪23h30‬). As a bonus tip, being an expert in fitness and personal training, I let you know that cardiovascular workout is the best method to eliminate jetlag. You help the blood circulate back to the center of your body, eliminating blood resting in peripheral areas. I promise you, you really have to try to feel it. The next day I was like new!

We started our journey in Singapore by immediately going to the old town, visiting the famous neighborhood of Kampong Glam.

We head directly to Changi museum and Changi Chapel. There at the chapel, you can really feel the intensity related to World War II.

Lunch time! tradicional food… The moment I had been waiting/fearing! lol
We stopped by a local food restaurant that served us a buffet. Strong tastes but very good food. Very organic, nutritive as tasty too! Was a good surprise! xD

We spent the whole afternoon in Sentosa Island, which means peace island. A big Aquarium and Universal Studios give a big name to the island, bringing 5 million people every year there to have fun. Even found out that it’s a normal habit for Singapore families to go there during their weekends to have some fun.

By night, Singapore is amazing! All those huge buildings full of lights, specially Marina Bay Sands! But the big moment is when you get near Marina Bay to see the fountain show. Everyday at the same hour they run a fountain show in the water that attracts thousands of people to sit there and watch the beauty if that show.

After the show we had one of the must funny/akward moments. We saw a HUGE crowd coming in our directing , almost running. There were people from age 10 until age 65! What the hell was going on there?! Were we about to be all robbed?! Guess what…. They were playin pokemon GO and one guy shouted “the rare one is here!!”… LOL I lmao that moment! We got hit by pokemon GO fever in Europe too, but nothing compared to Asia! There were people with age enough to be my grandparent catching pokemons! Really advance mentality in terms of technology there!

We started the day after by riding The Singapore Flyer. Viewing the city from above and from that strategic angle worth’s every penny spent!

From there we went to visit Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown. AMAZING cultural insights we got there! We even got in a zone forbidden to photograph, specially designed for prayers.

Outside, got even a chance to see some locals playing some traditional game and making bets! Don’t say that I said that! ahah I really love these moments of cultural exchange, they make my travels worth 10 times more.

We finished our brief stay in Singapore by going to Gardens by the Bay! Singapore Gardens were very beautiful… but Cloud Forest?! From another world! They built a huge forest inside a glass structure! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. You can walk inside the forest and have interaction with the different aspects of the own forest. Amazing experience! Only in Singapore!

Stay until late in the gardens because they make a special light show on the palms trees!

With Singapore checked on the bucket list, we packed our bags and took a plane to…. Cambodia!

Stay tuned!
