Touring Africa -4- Botswana

in #travel7 years ago

Take some music with you if you want to go on an overland trip. That is my best advice. Unless you are a super talkative person, but even then I would recommend bringing some sort of music device with you. There is plenty of bumpy boring gravel roads, and music makes them better :-) Our most interesting destination in Botswana was the Okavango Delta. The Okavango River starts in Angola and ends in the Kalahari Desert. The end of the river turns into a swampland were wildlife thrive. IMG_1361.JPG
Botswana has about 200 000 elefants. So if you like elefants then Botswana is the place to be.

After having spent the day on the water cruising around drinking and watching the wildlife on the shores this was our evening view. I was not complaining :-)

This was our standard evening. Sitting around the big wok waiting for our supper. Most people were trying to save their money for different activities so they did not drink much or eat very fancy. There was an odd Pringles here and there but that was it. Supper was included in the price that I paid for the trip, but if you like food then you should buy some extra stuff. Preferably dry food that you can make with a little bit of hot water. We headed into the delta and stayed there for a few days. Our way of transportation were these "canoes".a woman guide as well.JPG

As you probably can tell I fell in. Luckily there were no crocs in this delta.
After the delta we went to a campinground and used it as a base for our safaris. Watering holes were like an oasis for the wildlife in the area as you can see on the photos.

Artistic photo of rhino at night. Or you can call it what it is. A shitty photo taken with a shitty camera at night :-p So if you have a good camera and a good travel insurance, take it with you. I slightly regret not having a better camera on my trip. However my camera did not take up much space.

Next stop, Namibia!!

Have a nice day :-)
