Chapter 1: Cape Town, Sudafrica

in #travel6 years ago

Last year i had an incredible adventure when i decided to visit for the very first time the African Continent.
Since im a child i wanted to see Africa. The animals and landscapes always amazed me and they time to become this dream true just showed up with a surprising invitation from my boyfriend to have holidays together.
We arrived there on the November 1st to spend four full weeks and some days more. In the first place we landed in the capital city Cape Town (Ciudad del Cabo), to spend 8 days before we drive thought The Garden Route.

Cape Town surprised me in a very positive way. It was much more than i expected and have a perfect combination between the urban life and nature, beginning with the mountains that sorround the city. When you are heading the airport you can see from the air all these landscapes perfect for the hiking lovers. The most important and famous is Table Mountain, which gave us an amazing view during our 8 days. Next to it you can see the Devils Peak and Lions Head.

During our first days we decided to explore the city, and we did a free walking tour booked in TripAdvisor, higly recommended if you want to know about the history of the city and nice places to visit. One of our favourites was The Honest Chocolate Cafe, where they prepare a delicious variety of sweets and the special ingredient is cocoa. This place was the perfect location to surprise my boyfriend during his birthday

During this week we took a look of the city from above during the night when we did a nocturnal hiking to Lions Head. This is a famous spot in the city if you want to enjoy the sunset. We started around 6 and took us around 1 hour and a half get to the top. Lot of people in the way, locals and turist enjoy this waking even with their kids and dogs. If you want to do it make sure you take a head lamp with you or any other light that help you when you want to go down by night. For the night if you feel cold easily liek me then take a jacket because it can get very windy.

The next day, we wanted to see more but now with full light and we booked a hiking to Table Mountain. This was more challenging and it took us near 5 hours and a half to complete the ascense. The road was very nice and we enjoyed so much the view and the nature of course.

After all this adventures in nature, next days we realxed some and we visited the place in the marina called The Water Front, it is a place where you can go to spend a nice evening if you are looking for a place with great variety of shops and restaurants. We took the time also to visit the aquarium where we saw our first african penguins and also other animals.

We enjoyed several times breakfast in the different cafes in the city, there are great options. This one was a small english cafe where we taste several dishes. I loved it!

One thing about Cape Town (and about all South Africa) that i really enjoyed was the food. We also had the chance to do a Food Tour and was totally amazing. We visited a hiden place to taste the traditional food prepared by locals.
