Hello everyone!

Today we have to talk about one of the destinations we would most like to visit, both for its history and for the culture that inhabited it.

The ancient city of Thebes

The capital of the Middle Empire and new empire of Egypt, which dates back to about 2040 BC. Is located in the current city of Luxor, was at its time of May splendor, the religious and administrative capital of this ancient kingdom.

Her Egyptian name was Uaset but it was the Greeks in their foray into the ancient empire who named her Thebes

Within the huge city that extends to both sides of the river, we can find places as well-known as

and on the western side we find the valley of kings, the valley of queens in which are buried most of the pharaohs and queens of the most glorious epoch of ancient Egypt, and Deir el-bahari which is a complex of funerary temples dedicated to certain pharaohs (we will talk more deeply about this in a future chapter)

hese buildings in the ancient city of Thebes and the so-called necropolis were named as cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO under the name of Antigua Thebes with its necropolis.

This is clear from the historical importance and magnificence of its ruins, which continue to amaze us today, especially in its incredible and advanced architecture for the time 😱
