Vlog 432: Opportunities on Steem are everywhere.
The only opportunity on Steem when it just came out in 2016 for most:
- make content on Steemit.com and hope a whale upvotes it.
Some people still live in that mindset. But it's an outdated way of thinking.
Opportunities today:
- Build an application on top of Steem.
- Start a community on Steem-Engine
- Trade tokens on Steem Engine.
- Play Splinterlands, and if you are a good gamer, Rent a Deck or Rent Cards and earn more then it costs by playing.
- Make connections with other builders now that everyone is still reachable.
- Create a useful application for Splinterlands (example: peakmonsters, Heron's Unlimited). (Benefit from the success of another application)
- Earn crypto by exercising (@actifit) or use other projects that offer tokens for completing tasks (ps. Steemhunt).
- Create content for Different Communities
- Invest in different applications and Communities on Steem
- Know when Airdrops hit.
- Start your own Forum (TokenBB).
- Do you have a useful skill set besides content creation? Offer it to others.
etc etc...
Steem is the blockchain of opportunity! Go after it.
People that pay attention are having a field day on Steem at the moment.
Everyday opportunities fall from sky waiting to be picked up.
The biggest opportunity for anyone on Steem at the moment in my opinion: Building a community.
This is the time to build a community. There are so many topics that still need a community on Steem. You don't want to compete with anyone, later on, so do it today if this is something you always aspired.
Of course, building a community requires hard work, investment, knowledge, time and effort. It's not easy.
But then again. We all know, the real easy times from the past on Steem are over anyway.
This is the time to build.

I wish you can still find time to blog about developments on Steem post HF21 despite your intentions to take on more of a curating role. I've found these vlogs of yours a valuable source of information. Also, from a marketing perspective your enthusiasm and your efforts are setting a good example.
I'm predicting that after HF21 there will be more concentration of author rewards because curators stand more to gain from finding content that is going to be upvoted by a large mass of voting power. Some people are pessimistic about that leading to the same authors being at the top perpetually. I don't think so. After taking the curation game a little more seriously in the last few months, I've noticed that resting on your laurels autovoting the same authors at the same time while trying to front run the big guys does not work as well as going on a search for the next good thing. You have to put your mind to it if you want to achieve the best possible results. HF21 will not eliminate bid bots but, hopefully, it may discourage the worst cases of overvalued content and motivate those who create trashy placeholder posts just to self-upvote them to look for better content for the same results.
I'll continue to create content about Steem for as long as it's useful. It's a good incentive for myself to stay up to date. And who am I kidding, I love doing the research anyway and talking about Steem, for hours if I have too :)
About curation, it's a game imho. Time vs Rewards. Finding the gems take time with more rewards. Taking the easy route saves time and gives you a little less.
It's the same with my Splinterlands choice. I got time back in return for fewer rewards.
Earning STEEM will be tougher too. Blogging about your cat might not cut it anymore unless you are someone like Beyonce. It will be interesting to see what will be selected after HF21.
The age-old rule still applies. If you want to be in control, having some SP is key.
I can’t bring myself to vote any trash even if it’s going to get a lot of votes. One overlooked took in this game is resteeming, by the way.

Opportunities definitely abounds on steem, I'm definitely thinking that it's being utilized by a massive number of people, I definitely think the main reason why it's still not fully recognised and patronised by a larger faction of people is because of the upcoming hardfork, I hope we can get it over with and move on. Steemit is growing and Steem opened many opportunities for us. I am still discovering Steem-Engine and creating a community there sounds just right to me :) Have a nice weekend!
Would you have a link, @exyle, to where communities are being created or are you referring to tokens and portals like palnet?
There are communities you can join. This post explains the directory, but I think it is about finding people with shared interests and building the communities that you want to see. I've always been involved with the #needleworkmonday community, but two new ones that really interest me are @spinvest and @reggaesteem. There's an opportunity with both of these to help build a community and bring more people to steem. But there are a million others :)
