My Plans for the Romanian Community

Acheivements so far

Many people had attempts of starting a Romanian Community on Steem before, but most of them have failed so far, even if we have a Facebook group with over 300 users, not many things are going on over there. I created a Discord Server about two months ago with the purpose of bringing the community together and promote Steem in Romania, and because @alexvan created a server the same day, such a huge coincidence, we decided to team up and grow this thing together into a healthy place.

Since then, we grew to more than 130 users, and I can say that my purpose was achieved so far. We were able to gather in the same place most of the active Romanians on Steem, bounce ideas and develop projects that will hopefully help the community in the long run. We created the @steemromania page and started a contest for the logo, where the winner took home 100SBD but decided to split 40SBD with the 2nd and 3rd place.

Some of the key players that help running the things besides me, @alexvan and @fishmon are @lishu, @rbm, @alexdory, and @victorcovrig, they being always active in the chat, trying to make things happen and keeping us up to date with everything as things evolve.

Also, @raoul.poenar and some of the guys started an initiative called @photomatic to promote and curate both Romanian photographers on Steem and international ones, and you can read more about it here. Thanks to @anarcho-andrei and @guiltyparties, @romaniaball is up and running and now supporting every post under the tags #steemromania, #ro, and #romania. Some of the community members created tutorials in Romanian for the new users that will come, and you can check them out on @steemromania.

I am deeply impressed of how fast things evolved in the past two months, but we’re still not at the point I want us to be, we still have a long way to go but here is my vision for the community, the reason I started it.

My Vision

My primary intent when I launched this was to set up a team and promote Steem across Romania, so the community grows a lot more and we maybe change the life of a few people by informing them about this tech. Besides supporting new users, I also want to help the existent users so we can all grow as a whole and maybe sometime in the future we’ll have a big sustainable community where everybody has the lifestyle they want thus being in a position of abundance and having the possibility of helping others.

I started promoting Steem on my own a long time ago, but in the last few months I got somewhere between ten and twenty people on this platform, but the sad truth is that almost none of them is active anymore. The main reason that happened is that they got no support, not everybody is like me, able to work for a couple of months for peanuts and grind until they make it, some people need more external motivation in the form of appreciation, rewards and that’s understandable.

I’m very grateful that @anomadsoul followed my vote for a couple of weeks about a month ago but with the last turn of events and this nasty market he is unable to do it anymore but his support, helped me launch this whole community. For a couple of weeks I was able to support my people, and as they said, the difference is tremendous comparing to the peanuts they are making now on their quality content.

The overall idea, I want to bring new people here and support both them and the existent ones so they can improve their life.

My Plan

I’m already promoting Steem online on some communities of content creators, but I fear that I would get them to sign up here only so they can leave a few weeks after that because no one notices them. I want to have enough power so I can support them all at least until they can be on their own. Also, I want to help people not just to create better content but develop projects on their own so they can have an impact on Steem, helping others.

I don’t know how I’ll be able to do all that without anyone backing me up, but I will try to grow this community as much as I can. In case people are wondering why I'm not powering up the Steem I have it's because I need that to accomplish the vision I have for myself first.

Logo created by @victorcovrig

The main reason I’m doing all this is not that I have something to win or because I have hidden intents but because I am grateful for everything that happened to me on Steem and how that helped me change my life. Since I know how many quality people and content creators we have in Romania, I want to help them achieve the same thing, a state of abundance where they can give freely.

As a final note, I want to mention that everybody’s working for free because they want to see this come true but hopefully, we’ll be able to accomplish all that I talked about above in the following months.

Is it always good to promote steemit in our "real" life communities. I hope you can get even more people here man, but you are right about the support issue.

Most people will probably feel demotivated is no one supports them. That is an issue that could be solved, but would require the work of people with a lot of SP.

That's my goal too, I want to grow the community as much as possible, but as you mentioned, we need resources for that. Of course, no one wants to work for free, and that's understandable.

Hurray! This is really good news :D and it will help me restart my activity on the platform (been busy with family stuff lately, didn't have so much time to post). Can't wait to join the Discord channel and meet the Romanian members on Steemit. This is really awesome, I hope we (Romanians) can bring more value and great content on Steemit.

Good post. 😎

A very good plan .. looks really easy ... but it is very difficult to unite steemian in a community .. but slowly all will run perfectly. the most important is steemian cooperation. sorry if there is a mistake in this comment. and english is not good. because I use google translate. best regards from me in Aceh, indonesia.

What's this Facebook you are talking about?

This is a very good vision. It's true. Most people need some kind of motivation to keep going. Also, creating good content isn't that easy as it seems. This is not your typical social media platform where you can throw a picture and a few words and expect likes or upvotes.
IMHO, not all are made for this, always writing, posting, commenting etc, regardless their niche.
Steemit is build to be a community social media platform. Without supporting each other, we won't make it far. So you're on the right track.
I saw a couple of times upvotes coming in from you and @anomadsoul and I am very grateful for that. It did keep me going a little more. Giving and receiving appreciation (no matter its nature) is always uplifting.
This is just the beginning of the Romanian community. It may be slow, but it's not over yet.

Of course, I learned it from you @guyfawkes. I am planning to make project as well to help those I know in our area. I just need to work hard for now.

Great initiative @guyfawkes. Steem on!

Good luck @guyfawkes4-20, as I'm attempting to start the Kurdish community.

Thanks a lot, good luck to you too, it's not always easy but it is well worth it. :)

best of luck for you.really good job.good work in the article.thanks for sharing

Best of luck. I fear this is the problem currently with most country communities on steemit, with the exception of a few, it's hard to create something like this without the support of a whale.

Best of luck. I know we struggle with this over at steemusa as well.

Great work @guyfawkes4-20 - I realise you will be very busy with all your projects on Steemit & life. I've been talking with @alexdory about SteemRomania on Discord and I love all your effort to promote Steemit over there. I will be in touch! Best Wishes
