The cave has nine floors, where they kept fuel and lubricants and dumped dogs

One of the most famous Bulgarian caves is Devetashka, which is located 22 kilometers from the center of Lovech, also a famous historical city in Bulgaria. The girl is popular among Russian tourists due to its accessibility and name, which easily changes into "Nine-story building".

This stream is collected from fourteen cave sources, the water temperature in it is always + 10C.

The real name of the Maarat cave, the modern one, apparently, came from the proximity to the village of Devetaki. The local population still sometimes calls this cave Marat because of seven huge holes in the tall arches. These "windows" are also famous for the Devetashka cave - light, rain and ugly beautifully fall through them - people and animals, unfortunately. One of these windows is called the Pupil's Door, because once a school-aged child fell into it and crashed to death. The height of the Devetashkia cave is 30 meters, and the Alexander Nevsky Monument Temple could easily fit there. Two more holes are called Kucheshkite - a heap for a Bulgarian dog; in these windows the villagers dumped unsuitable dogs for service.

In modern civilized times, films are made in this cave. For example, the famous series The Expendables. In fact, you can’t remove anything here and even visit it is undesirable, because any human presence violates the life rhythm of the cave inhabitants and its flora - eighty-two species of birds live in the cave, thirteen of them are listed in the Red Book, thirty-four species of mammals, half of which , is also on the world red list and fifteen species of bats. I will not list the remaining inhabitants - believe me, there are a lot of them. Although when you visit at first glance, nobody but pigeons is visible.

You can get into the Devetashka cave from the Devetashko plateau, that is, go down from the mountain, or you can drive from Lovech, leave the car in an improvised parking lot, buy entrance tickets, cross the hundred-meter bridge across the * Osm * river and enter the cave, from afar appreciating its grandeur sizes. The entrance to the cave measures thirty-five by thirty meters.

Entrance tickets to the Devetashka cave cost 3 BGN per person (1.5 euros), or you can buy one family ticket for 6 BGN (3 euros).

The girl as an archaeological site has existed since prehistoric times. During exploration, the ancient sites of people living before our era were discovered here. The cave is amazing in its size. It’s a pity that tourists are not allowed on further than this entrance hall - it’s blocked. However, professional researchers told us that if you go along the two corridors that exit from this hall (with a guide and equipment), you can see many amazingly beautiful things. For example, huge and deep lakes (up to eight meters) and beautiful galleries. In one of them there is stalactite, repeating the outline of the statue of the Virgin.

During World War II, there was a military warehouse in Devetashka, which the Germans set up here. Then the Bulgarians themselves kept fuels and lubricants here. It is from these tanks that mysterious circles remained on the floor of the cave - in fact, these are barrel funnels. Once a train called here. To the right of the cave there are artificial breaches for these purposes. By the way, after the warehouse closed, the railway leading here was dismantled for scrap and it was possible to get into the cave only from above - from the village of Devetaki. But in 2011, American filmmakers decided to use the Girl as a nature for The Expendables and built a bridge over the river. And then left as a gift.

In general, the place is really interesting, but I don’t think it is worth going here specifically for hundreds of kilometers. Only if in a comprehensive tour of Lovech.
