WE WORK BUT NO PAY---OUR SORRY STATE›››(#steemitschoolpoetry 100 Day challenge---Day #5)<<<

We wake up with blissful bustle,
Going on a daily basis for the hustle,
A life we want for a change,
The renumeration is what it is- a change

We trudge on towards the workplace,
Thinking each day will come with bliss and grace,
Work we do everyday into an overdrive,
The environment not helping us to develop and to thrive

The morale needed to work they dampen,
With gay abandon they act - abrupt and sudden,
The environment going for us tense and unfriendly,
Inside of us we search for a way out of the doldrum,
And to leave though with pain but with internal joyful hum.

The workers the government treat with disdain,
Progression in life they do not want for them,
Salary ridiculous; workload immense without commensurate grain,
The atmosphere fouled with the attendant howl.

Take an askance at the institution,
Rudderless and actions taken at their whims and caprices,
As they wish they act...who are we not to act,
We move but immobile...growth we want but still stunted.

We should spearhead the exodus or vote revolt in the offing,
In full force others will follow but still preparing,
Stifling workplace it has been all along,
The veneer of kind-heartedness cracking among
Other vicious actions...in the open we gaze in bewilderment,
Though we have it coming; little is the amazement

This is a poem about the sorry and gory state of workers in Nigeria who work to no end but without a commensurate renumeration or delayed payment for their state. The system is so askewed that those at the lower rung of the societal ladder are at the receiving end of the short stick of inhumanity as evident in the government officials.
