Let's talk about RUNESCAPE and its RACISM towards the VENEZUELANS

First, What is Runescape Old school? This is a video game that falls into the category of MMORPG, RuneScape was created by Andrew Gower, the creator of DeviousMUD, predecessor of RuneScape, in 1998. Once rewritten and renamed, the first version of RuneScape (this is the Old School that was released in its full version in 2007, this is what we will talk about) was released to the public on January 4, 2001 in beta. Currently, RuneScape is in its third version (RuneScape 3) since July 22, 2013. It has the option to play for free and the option to pay. The game interface is simple and can be accessed from most browsers.

Since we know it's runescape, for those who didn't know, let's move on to the topic

RunesCape and its RACISM towards the Venezuelans, why racism? As we all know, if you do not know this you must live under a rock, Venezuela has plunged into a crisis economically speaking well in many aspects has fallen into a crisis in almost all values and aspects that make up and maintain a country. But here we will focus on the economic, thanks to all these problems Venezuelans have opted to find other ways to survive avoiding having a "normal" job.

A large percentage of Venezuelan youth has dedicated to work and get money through video games such as RSOS (RuneScape Old School). This for advanced players can have an income of 2 to 3 dollars an hour, that a dollar equals almost 3 million "Bolivares Fuertes" , this makes an advantage for Venezuelan players to have a very good income of money. This seems fine, right? So far no problem, are a group of people playing to survive in their country. There would be no problem ... but it really exists and that's why this publication.

As we know an MMORPG you need to have a lot of hours played to be able to have a very advanced character and with good items, skills and everything else, but it rages when a player arrives who has the opportunity to buy gold unlike others which will generate a great advantage over the old school, this is called "pay to win" and is very hated by the entire "gamer" community because it is unfair. This is what happens in RSOS Venezuelans with the "gold farming" create a gap in the game regarding their level of learning and difficulty because they farmean gold and sell it to pages which resell it to players, this to The game company does not like it and they choose to penalize it with a perma-ban,

But the problem is when you as a company or moderator of the game indiscriminately accuses an entire community of being a gold farmer, in RSOS you can not say that you are Venezuelan because you get a ban, the players begin to insult you, report you and I have seen extreme cases who follow you to grab you in a PVP zone. I have met a large majority of Venezuelans who did start with the game to earn money but eventually became fond of it and started playing it just for fun because the truth is that it is a fairly complete and entertaining game. But it is sad that one can not be "free" in a certain way because of this racism against Venezuelans. because if it is a racism to exclude someone for only being of a nationality but they will say

  • "Oh, they are doing gold farming and that goes against the politics of the game"

yes but not all Venezuelans are like that, as I said before, they banned me I played for fun I had a score of over a thousand skills that is too much in that game and only because they saw me once speaking in Spanish with a corduroy and clearly using Venezuelan dialect banned us both.

If you are a RS player, please be aware and do not report just because you see someone from Venezuela see if he does gold farming first because some of us like or liked the game.

MMORPG's are like that. It's very easy to just subscribe to a hive mind and stick with it. There is a social "meta" in most online games.
