Same thing going on for my wife and niece. They both want to join and I think it's been 4-5 days since they clicked on the confirmation link.

The words under my name are more like tags, all separate. So in other words, I like crypto's and precious metals, I'm also into technology which is separate.

I don't hope so. The issue with creating new accounts is one of the biggest challenges for Steemit right now in my opinion.
Only the Steemit Inc team know that unfortunately.
