The Pace of Nature

in #steemit7 years ago

Last year I did a fashion photo shoot, and today I woke up yearning for the feeling that I felt that day.

I've been on a journey to finding complete bulletproof inner peace. I took meditation classes to really learn how to silence my mind, observe my thoughts as they entered my mind and let them go without attaching myself to them, and to understand humanity a bit better. I wanted to find the Buddha within, and I did. Then life experiences tested my inner peace, won some battles, but never had a chance at the war. I continued meditating and increasing my awareness within and in the outside world. My inner peace became stronger than ever...

Back to my photoshoot...
It took place at a beautiful garden at a park nearby, and all I wanted to do was become one with nature. As I was posing for the camera, I felt the wind caress my skin, and I knew the wind was also caressing the skin of each petal of every flower. I felt the sun giving my body a warm hug, and I knew the sun was giving all of the trees a warm hug. This is how I became one. I appreciated the similar experiences that nature was having at the same place, at the same time. I felt peace, gratitude and joy. But most of all, I felt patience, the virtue of patience.

At that moment, I realized that I wanted to adopt the pace of nature, and her secret was patience.

The flowers and trees do not hold on, they do not become attached to their leaves, to their petals. With roots, deep and strong, they flow with the cycle of life, and that's what I wanted. Nature is patient, kind and yet destructive, loving and yet extremely powerful, not worried about impressing, but about having a strong foundation within their roots and flourishing.

Steemit reminds me of the feeling that I so desperately wanted, and that was patience. It takes time and consistency to grow, not being worried about "making it", but about what I am contributing. We have to be willing to learn and grow, because we all started at step 1. It's a lesson that we all know, but tend to forget when we start something new, especially something that has us so excited to try out. We take the leap of faith, pour our all right away, but expect success to be immediately. Life doesn't work that way, nature doesn't work that way. A flower's seed is planted, roots sprout, attach themselves to the soil, and with each day that passes, with consistent sunshine and sometimes rain, the flowers slowly start to grow. Patience.

As I continue to settle my roots to create the strongest foundation that I can have, where the wind and snow blowing against me will never have a chance, I will remain still, unaffected, just like a tree. With stillness, my creativity flourishes, love, gratitude and patience grows taking over my heart and soul, and I find joy, to be doing what I love.

I hope everyone reading this finds stillness, finds peace, and finds patience, just like nature.
