Why the Steemit concept is NOW... one word: CENSORSHIP

in #steemit7 years ago

There has been a major trend unfolding in the deep dark code of some of our benevolent Social Media Platforms. The likes of Facebook, Google, YouTube and Twitter are just some that numerous concerning articles pin pointed to be at the heart of the issue.

As much as these companies like to portray themselves as benevolent public utilities, they are in fact still 'for-profit-corporations' that have often made so much money that they now hunger for the greatest opiate of success... more power, more control. And the people power block chain system must have them slightly concerned.

The barrel that users are held over in the case of YouTube is of course demonetization. It appears that anything that is deemed to contrast with YouTube's own political views (which are more and more siding with mainstream medias fake news narrative) will be unsupported financially at best. Gagged entirely at worst.

This a trend and that's why Steemit is a great concept that's time has come to decentralize content away from this shareholder dictated government pawns. Let's see whether Steemit has the steam to pull away with an appropriate decentralized platform that can actually monetize content with usable value and offer an alternative for a freer media distribution system. Only time will tell.
