What is School of Minnows?

SOM is a community project that has a bot which evenly distributes idle votes(although the service will track manual and trail votes as well).
When your Voting Power reaches 100% because of inactivity your part of the reward pool is not being used. You miss out on curation as well as the potential to bless a fellow Steemian!

When you have joined the bot here, then you have given the bot access. It will make 1 single vote, up to a maximum of $0.05 on the most eligible post in the SOM group.

The most eligible post is determined like this:
The post must be old enough and new enough to vote on.
The post will belong to the user with the highest Altruism.
Altruism is determined by comparing Given votes in $ and Received votes in $.
When there are no more posts available to the post with the highest Altruism, the bot looks down the line.
Your Altruism is adjusted at every vote for even distribution so a large vote will replace several smaller ones.
You can gain Altruism from any vote made on a post by an SOM member - If a trail you follow votes them, or if you just feel like voting them manually, you will gain Altruism and thus a better position to be helped in return.
