Pooling Money Together To Run Steemit Ads On Reddit

in #steemit7 years ago

All SBD generated from this post will go to the cause, and if anyone who has the communities trust wants to take over then I will send it to them along with my meager donation of ~6 steem (waiting on conversion).

Hello everyone, I have been here for a little over a month and really hope to see this platform grow. To achieve this goal I would like to purchase one or more ads on reddit (and maybe other places) promoting the site. Since steemit is decentralised, we cant rely on the developers to do this for us. Which is why I think we should pool some donations together to make it happen.

Our main competitor is reddit since facebook is more about connecting with people you know. Luckily for us they accept ads for just about anything. At 75 cents for 1,000 impressions (minimum $5 purchase) on a specific subreddit, I think it would be a great deal.

@bergy ran his own advertising campaign on reddit and found he was paying about 9 cents per click. Image credits go to him. I think this is a pretty good return, and he was mostly advertising on crypto related subs. I would like to include subreddits such as

/r/beermoney: a sub for people looking to make money online. Usually through surveys, faucets, and other things.

/r/blog: enough said

/r/entrepeneur: blogging is regularly talked about here.

I also had the idea of someone running an AMA (ask me anything). If we got the right person to do one it could be greater then any ad we could run. Unfortunately I am to small to be of much use here, but someone like @papa-pepper, or anyone else who makes a decent amount through posting interesting content could easily attract hundreds of redditors.

If you guys have any feed back or ideas I would love to hear them.

well done alex-draw!

Been there done that. Doesn't take much money $20 will buy you a lot of ads. Be warned though you will get a lot of negative comments and downvotes on the ad.

Yeah I've been reading up on it and that does seem to be the case, redditors don't like ads. I have thick skin though, and feel if the right subs were targeted it would still be worth it.

Steemit also has referal links, they dont give any rewards but we can use them to determine if the ads are actually attracting people to join.
