Do you take some really great photos? Photos that tell a whole story or sell your wonderful lifestyle?

If you take amazing photos that just aren't monetizing the way you'd like -- or maybe you don't have enough followers to really appreciate your pics -- then try putting your pics on Snapwire.

Snapwire works with brands who need "authentic" custom images and they look to everyday people who capture those real moments ... kind of like those amateur videos, but more professional. Actually, the pics that command the most money do actually seem to come from "real" (read: professional or semi-pro) photographers, but even really passionate hobbyists can produce just the right image that a buyer is looking for.

The Marketplace has 3 tabs (quoted descriptions from Snapwire):

  • Premium -- these are "the very best photos on Snapwire"

  • Select -- these appear to be chosen by Snapwire based on the photographer's level and success. Only the "select" photos are discoverable by buyers.

  • Purchased -- these are the "most recent photos purchased"

Looking at the photos that are available for sale, the subjects vary from luxury watches to portraits of babies to "unconventional" female models, photographed by a mix of pro and amateur photos. Many of the photos have a "homespun" sentimentality to them. In almost all cases, the photographs are tasteful and fairly well executed and can be used to start a story or tell a story -- so it's not just a bunch of porn or amateur pics -- the type of stuff that will drive away many legit brands and buyers.

If you're putting up the type of photos that buyers want, you get access to paid photo Requests and Challenges.

There is also a leaderboard of photographers so you can see how they are making out with Snapwire. The point system is kind of hard to appreciate because the numbers are so high (think inflation in some central american countries).

From the reviews, it might be hard to level up to command the kind of prices you want ... but that's a real-life problem for photographers also.

Overall the app is well-designed and fluid to use; because they emphasize "on-brand" content, Snapwire has done a nice job of establishing a consistent look and feel.
