SteemFest² Updates - [VIDEO] - Location Tour in Lisbon

in #steemfest7 years ago

Exactly two weeks ago I did a in/out trip to Lisbon on one of the hottest days of the years. I had to run / uber from location to location for appointments regarding SteemFest² and managed to shoot a quick "selfie vlog" in between meetings.

So this update is textwise quite short and more about the video length - duration: 4:44 minutes.

Hit play below - to learn about almost all SteemFest² locations. If you want to know the physical locations, explore the map on the SteemFest² website.

SteemFest²

1/2/3/4/5 November
Lisbon - Portugal
https://steemfest.com

Enjoy, meet and learn from fellow Steemians through the conference and social events scattered across several locations in one of the oldest cities of the world.

The full program consists of two conference days (each day at another location), multiple social events, a hackathon, the DIY Citytrip weekender where you can explore Lisbon via our guide or by yourself and to top it of a closing dinner on Sunday 5 November.

It looks to be one epic event, so don't miss out! - See You There!

All rewards from this comment and the giveaway posts go to raising money for giving more people the chance to attend STEEMFEST!

@blueorgy, i fully supported and you are saying right your offers are very valuables.

Just advertised you in my last beer tasting. Maybe it gets more views! I like the generosity! The price tag sure is hefty for a newbie.

Just wanting to add here what you get with your ticket:

Please note that the cheapest ticket price for SteemFest is 1/3 of the costs, as the rest is sponsored via generous whales and sponsorships. You get:

  • 4-5x open bar event
  • 3x top notch lunch
  • 3x top notch dinner
  • 2 conference days
  • 3 social evening gatherings
  • hackathon
  • transportation in lisbon
  • several side activities

all this starts to add up :)

For all of you who don't grab a ticket via my contest and others it really is well worth the price! @roelandp just simply mentioned the physical side of things, imagine adding the emotional, the life experience, and the fun you will have if you go... imagine ;) priceless!

I am a robot. I no emotions :P Thanks for adding this!

A ticket without dinners and drinks is always mandatory. It makes absolutely no sense for someone who wants to attend the conferences, social gatherings and hackatons to be forced a "top notch" dinner. It's all too over the top for a tech/social gathering, which should of course be special but on a different, simpler way. Anyway, is it possible for me, as a Portuguese citizen, to attend a conference? Can we pay "at the door" to attend? I would very much like to attend a conference or two but don't have time for the whole package, and many locals will be interested too, especially after the web-summit. Thank you for your time organizing Steemfest, and thank you for choosing Portugal, I just think in a near future, there will be so many people wanting to attend that you have to organize things in a different way and more people would come for a cheaper price, as it makes no sense to depend on donations, unless every steemit user would donate a few steem to make everything possible.
Cheers!

Hi Grandslam...

Just so you know: you only pay for the conference with the 'Minnow' ticket. All F&B and side events are sponsored via Whales & Sponsorships.

Additionally:

  1. the SteemFest event is before the Websummit, not after.
  2. A ticket for the websummit = 850 EURO. Excluding all the things SteemFest offers. That is 4 times as expensive. And you don't get any drinks or top-notch dinners.

So I am not sure you are completely up 2 date with all infos! Please check https://steemfest.com for pricing.

Walk up prices for Websummit, to stay in your comparison example (as it is an event held in Lisboa (but for profit), are 3000 EURO. I am not sure you are going to want those prices for SteemFest.

It is recommendable to just buy a Minnow -ticket now and you have to full days of conference, if you unfortunately won't be able to attend all side events. It is still only 25% of the Websummit price :) And way greater. (but I am biased :P)

Hi @steemfest, thanks for replying.
I was referring to last years websummit and the fact it gathered lots of tech-savvy people's attention that would probably be interested in Steemfest, and of course Steemfest is way greater and with an extremely fair price, I just wanted to know if I could could attend a single conference as I can't attend all of them, thanks for the clarifying information! And please consider the possibility of opening a donation pool in the future, open to every Steemit user to further help in covering costs, or even pay for the whole thing, that would be fantastic.
Cheers and thank you for your work!

Thats how we can lower the price actually, through donations :) additionally check @t-r-f where fellow attendees donate steem and sbd to redistribute to attendees for covering travel expenses!

@roelandp you are the BEST!!!!! What a magnificent video---and so well narrated with great effects and such a personal touch!! If Steemians see this video and aren't inspired to make it to Lisbon then we know they aren't really Steemians at all! LOL! Even if they can't make it, the video is incredibly inspiring and I'm certain many will be tapped in to all the photos, videos and shares that will flow out of Lisbon in November!! What a great service you are doing for us all----top notch quality and unbelievably low price!!! You're working your Roeland magic and we are all going to benefit greatly. Upped 100% and Resteemed. Let's keep this ball rolling!!! Thanks for being you and taking us with you on this journey!

Roeland this looks SICK!! I CANNOT WAIT!! all the locations look amazing and i cant wait to eat that pastelle or whatever that dessert is called!! You did insane job, i really am so proud of you!!! and wanted to compliment you on the editing skills- BRILLIANT!! x

Great! We are now fully organised for the festival!

Thanks for all your hard work, see you there!

hey @Roelandp, did you ever make a blog post with a video editing tutorial? Love your style, with those fast forwards, those crossing audio feeds, wow! Could you maybe share what software you use to make and edit your vids?

Then maybe I can ask one of my kids to send you a briefing on what you should and what you should not do when it comes to self-made sound effects in vlogs. Just kidding, I love it how you're not taking yourself too seriously.

But on topic, amazing content, awesome venues and just about everything I need to convince my wife to join the Steem party:)

thx @fitzgibbon. So the trip to Lisbon was one day from 5 AM to 12 PM. Then the editting took two days :P .... Editing..... nooooo. But I am untrained. I just used iMovie on my laptop it has a speeder / time adjustment slider. Sound effects from various opensource sources on the internet like freesound.org

Holy crap, long day, man! But absolutely worthwhile for our community, your update is greatly appreciated, just must have turned notifications off with all those upvotes :)

I'm sure there will be experienced vloggers at Steemfest, would you happen to know if one of them is giving a workshop about how to not lose too much time editing?

I talked with a professional vlogger recently for tips about this one vid above. And he redirected me to his editor.... i guess there is your answer :)

I get it. Some things are best outsourced :)

As an aspiring video editor myself, I encourage you to google “speed ramping tutorial” on YouTube. :)
