I have come to realize the key to making money is not in quantity and having 50,000 fans, but it is in the quality of those fans.

Bingo.

I am convinced that Followers are much overrated by many people here. Engaged readers are far more important.

    Exactly, it becomes the bitter truth. I always get caught up with numbers and quantity but if I just have 100 followers who tuned in every time it would be perfect. Imagine having only 100 followers but those 100 followers comment and interact all the time!
