Basque Country is a contrast region. Its small territory surprises with the richness of the landscapes. Near the golden beaches you will find rocky cliffs, green hills, extensive pastures, forests and steep slopes of the mountains. It is also a fascinating Basque community that, like no other centuries, cultivates its national culture.

That's how everything starts!

Due to its characteristic geographical position on the Iberian Peninsula, the Basque Country is under the influence of two climatic zones. In the north, where the Cantabrian Sea is deeply wedged in the Pyrenees, the climate is typically atlantic. This makes the most beautiful city, San Sebastian is at the same time the most rainy metropolis of Spain. The coast is characterized by a strong, rocky terrain, although there are no beautiful sandy beaches here.

A little further, in the hinterland there are beautiful green pastures stretching out on the picturesque hillsides. There are also wonderful mountain areas, wild, wooded and sometimes beautiful waterfalls. The south, occupied by the province of Álava, is clearly affected by the Mediterranean climate. The weather here is definitely nicer. The mountainous terrain is becoming more and more flat due to the valley of the Ebro river to the south of the province. Due to their affiliation to the famous Rioja wine appellation, the hills dominate the rolling hills full of vineyards.
