ENTROPY

Don't be scared, its not what you think!

I first learnt of this term in my senior science class, specifically in a physics class. But recently, I discovered that entropy is applicable to all aspects of our lives. It is an important factor of our existence.

What is entropy then?

To answer that, let me give us a brief analogy:

I am always busy with school and other stuffs during the weekdays, hence, I don't have much time to clean up my room, except on weekends. However, when the room has finally been cleaned up; within the week, it all gravitates back to untidiness: clothes hung haphazardly, bed undressed, shoes thrown about, books and scripts shoved on the floor, dusts on table, cobwebs and all; and I'd have to be repeating the same cycle of clean. Dirt. Clean. Dirt...

Now that's entropy at work!

Entropy is the degree of disorganization in a system...

What this means is that, for as long as we exist, every part of our existence is tending towards disorganization, destruction, deterioration and disintegration.

This is why landforms changes, governments, empires and civilization falls, trees grow, die and decay, humans go the same way too.

Therefore, every time we take those drugs, we're fighting entropy. Every time we follow a diet to prolong our lives, we're fighting entropy. Every time we hit the gym to get fit, so as to maintain the structure of our body and prolong it's deterioration, we're fighting entropy.

That's why we shrink after abandoning our regular gym schedule. That's why we fall sick regularly - whether through malaria, or otherwise - as malaria itself is entropy meant to disorganize our system.

So what does this imply?

Yes, we are born fighters. We were born to fight entropy. Although entropy wins at the end, and will always win, however we're united fighting entropy until the day he finally wins.

Being human and alive means we're united in a common battle. This knowledge should help us appreciate the fact that we're facing a common enemy which is not ourselves, but the forces of nature meant to disorganize us.
Our destinies are entwined; looped in some ways, and we all share the same goal, irrespective of the differences in our objectives.
The goal is to sustain ourselves as long as possible, until the day we finally bend the knee to entropy.

The beggar you see around you is the side effects of entropy. The homeless kids in your neighborhood are the side effects of entropy. The distressed person is a side effect of entropy. The armed robber, the pickpockets, the burglar...

As much as you cannot live in a disorganized room for long, it's the same way we must aim to organize our society too through extending a helping hand to those in need.

As Brandon would put it:

"Entropy shakes its angry fist at you for being clever enough to fight it.”

We fight entropy, or we perish!
