MY WRITING

in #poetry7 years ago

They talk and write about the love between lovers, the heartbreak they’d have to bear due to the loss of a lover.

But what of the heartbreak friends leave you with? What of the pain it causes? There were no songs sung for it, no albums dedicated to the heartbreak of friendship. No books or poems written describing such grief and emptiness.

It is not the kind of grief which leaves you paralyzed and unmoving for days, it does not hit you like a tsunami.

Rather it is like slow cancer.

Creeping in slowly steadily, like the rhythm of a sad, dying song. The kind that does not show up for days and months, has no visible traces. Is an ache here and a headache there, intense but manageable.

However whether the loss is that of a friend or lover, a loss is forever a loss.
