WHO AM I?

in #poetry8 years ago

Sometimes in life,

“Doing nothing is the most important thing to do”

During this we connect with our-self and think deep. We try to reason our existence. We see clearly what we have done so far and what can be done in future. This is the time to rediscover our-self.

In life we get pushed around and feel helpless. We accept our fate. Slowly and gradually we stop struggling and “go with the flow.”

I am an amateur to create a poetry. In an attempt to create a poetry I created below mentioned lines which speaks about few individuals. They could be anybody. They are confused and feel like trapped individuals. Once they find who they are, they are fully capable to change and live a life as they want to live. “Who am I” is the most important question in life. If you know the answer to this question happiness can not be far.

I have two kids a loving husband and the life is good
There was a time when I used to paint though
Oh wait I have to cook food
Deep inside I am an artist but I am also a housewife
I am clueless what I want and I wonder “Who am I”

Hi my name David that’s my pseudo name
You see I work at a call center and this is what I became
I was good at singing and many said I will be a star
I know they were right but fear of struggle has kept me far
I have given up hope and sometimes for my future I cry
I am getting along with life now, but sometimes I ask myself “Who am I”

“I want results” cried my boss and extended my deadline
I lookd at the desktop, traced my work and decided to redesign
Many say I am a great speaker and I move my audience
As a software guy here I hardly speak and accept my non-existence
They say I should be a trainer to contribute in knowledge impart
I would love to do that but I fear competition is too smart
I want to love this job and to do that I really try
Or I should do what I am good at to show everyone “Who am I”

“What would you like sir” I asked the gentleman on the third row seat
He smiled and said “I am good” I thought how sweet
To serve on the flight is an experience which I always look to get
I was a famous athlete in my school & college, I liked to sweat
If I would have got a little support, my life would have been different
I would have dedicated my soul to sports and displayed my talent
I am in this profession because I am a friendly guy
I wish I could break free to pursue sports and discover “Who am I”

In our life we always run or walk and seldom we think
We dream small or big but hesitate to link
It just takes a step towards your dream, to make it realize
We all have courage and strength for our dream to materialize
Every being has potential you just need to discover yourself and fly
It just starts with a simple question to oneself “Who am I”

P. S. - This is a very old piece of my writing. I was just learning to write then. Still long way to go in the learning process. Thought of sharing it with you.
