A Turkish football club has entered history after paying a player transfer with Bitcoin
Harunustaspor, an amateur club in Turkey, has entered history: made the first transfer for which it paid with the Bitcoin cryptocurrency.
Omer Faruk Kiroglu (22 years old) was purchased with cryptocurrencies. The Turks paid for the footballer's services 0.0524 Bitcoin, equivalent to about 400 euros. They have allotted 2,500 Turkish pounds (959 euros) in cash. Harunustaspor evolves in 1st Division Sakarya - Group B.
Haldun Sehit, president of the Harunustaspor club, said he had used Bitcoin to win public sympathy. "We wanted to make a name both in the country and around the world. We are proud! The name of our team is mentioned on TV news as if we were a professional club. We are proud of this, "Sehit told CNN Turkey.
I must say that it was a genius move to promote both the club and also the cryptocurrencies in the world. And we must be truthful and say that we need more initiatives like this to promote and adhere to this new technology. I am just amazed of this smart play from the club owners and as I both love the cryptocurrencies and soccer I must say that it brought a smile after I have found this story. Just one thing to say:
