Just a fox

Taken in the Arctic by Arviat last fall. Usually, its coat would have helped it blend in with the snow. But there was a heat wave that caused the snow to melt and the vegetation to start growing again. Since the fox's coat change is determined by the length of the diurnal cycle, it stood out like a sore thumb. Since arctic hairs and voles also use the length of day to change their coat colour, they were all very visible.
