Steemit Openmic week 76, @timothybusker cover song of Damien Rice "The greatest bastard"steemCreated with Sketch.

in #openmic7 years ago

Hi, this is my first entry to the steemit openmic. I recorded this on the street just after I finnished my busking session yesterday. Thought it was a fun thing to show what busiking is the swedish winter might look like!
Im sorry about the ringing sound(its not feedback).. its something that happens independent of what gear I use and it only happens on the street... I suspect that it has something to do with all the electric lines underground?... please try to ignore it and focus on the music!

If any electrician has a solution to this problem ill be forever thankfull!

Next week ill upload something recored from home so you dont have to bear with the ringing sound!

Hope you enjoy the music!
with love
Timothy

Timothy , holy stars! I mean how are you not over-the-moon famous by now? Your voice kills me. At 1:50 mark I just lost it. This is better than Damien Rice. Please record more songs soon. I don't want to wait a whole other week. Much respect!
🎼🌸🎼🌸🎼🌸 💕-serena.

Also I want to send you an invite to a room at discord but I don't know how. There's a group there called PALS.. (Peace Abundance Liberty) .. maybe you have to just register at the main discord site first. Anyway, hot damn .. love your music. Just call me fan girl.

Im blushing (irl)

Downloaded the app discord.. ill soon be there!

Hey look at you, brother! You're in the #1 trending spot in the openmic tag! Rock star!

So cool! Really nice to wake up to :) Thanks for resteeming my post sweetie <3

I agree, I prefer his version to Rice's

Hope you didnt find it creepy that i added you as friend on facebook? since you sign all your posts with your fullname it was easy to find you there.. just thought that you'd have some more videos to look at till next week :)

Ha.. not creepy. Thanks for looking me up. I'm not there much anymore though. I moved over here to do some private blogging and didn't tell much of anyone about being here. My secret hideout. Ha..so don't mention steemit on my Facebook.. lol. I don't want some of them to follow me. Too much negativity over there lately. Steemit is so much more positive. I love it. I'm so happy here. I hope you find the same happiness.

I would definitely drop some bills in your guitar case if I was walking by while you were playing. You sound great man!

Instead, please accept my tip in the form of an upvote.

I looked through the first entries and man im starting to understand the scope of your undertaking.. thanks for doing this!
Much love
Timothy

How many entries do you usually get in a week?

Hey brother... if you look here, you can see all of the entries each week.. neat site.

Ok first off, you sound fucking great. Next questions.. How do you keep your fingers agile enough to play in those temperatures? And also does the weather damage your guitar? I love busking but can't handle the cold at all lol nor can my guitar.

Thanks man! Great to meet another busker here <3
First of I dont think I ever played a nylon string guitar that could handle it... but maybe you play steelstring? If thats the case then a robust guitar, not to delicate or woody is required. If one could afford it i suspect that a carbon fibre guitar like a "rainsong" guitar would work very well. I play a Takamine, a discontiniued model, but very similar to the EF341SC and its been with me for 10 years and still going strong...

For oneself its key to dress warmer all over the body then what you would find normal... to the point where you are warm instead of not feeling cold... just below the point where you sweat outdoors ;) That way you have warm blood circulating your fingers through out your shift! Its not gonna go hand in hand with a cool appearance though :P

also dress the hands as much as possible... the right hand (if you are righthandeed that is) only needs the tips uncoverd and the left hand can pretty much handle only uncovering the pointing finger (dont know the correct word, english is a second language, but the finger closest to the thumb) for your barre chords and the other fingers can just have the tip uncovered! Woolen wristwarmers up to the knuckles if needed... and if you are really pushing below water freezing point then there are some other opptions im glad to discuss if its even an issue where you live!

haha wow, thank you for such a precise breakdown, I'm living in NYC and its pretty cold in the winter, coming from the UK its colder than I am used too which a lot of people don't realise. Thankfully spring is just raising it's glorious sprouts!

Man, this is amazingly beautiful, the control in your voice. I have a little collaboration challenge coming on, I'll be delighted to have your voice on it. great one bruv

Ill follow you anticipatingly ,love to see what you come up with!

Is there a way I can get an audio version of this??

Thank! I just woke up from phonecall and went to the computer to find such nice response :) This perticular recording is made with my Iphone as a video... dont know if i can separate the audio from it.. guess i could make a audio recording from home though.. but the feeling cant be the same, theres something magical that happens in the street, a building up of sort, and this is recorded after 5 hours of playing, also at the moment my sound interface is broken.. and I only have my phone to record on :/ But if you want Ill send you what you prefer :)

I don't mind sire.... are you on discord??

I just joined discord but haven’t really gotten used how it works yet.. my name there is timothybusker#1002 I think

Im getting to know discord a bit better, whats your name there?

It feels really good to get this kind of acknowledgement in my startup here on steemit.. makes me feel very welcome. I dont really know what a witness is on steemit.. but I suspect its some kind of status of influence?

Witnesses are mainly responsible foot block production and for tve security of the network. Moreover, they are often involved in the whole platform life as developpers, promoters and helpers.

They are many posts on Steemit that describe their role in details.

I wish you all the best. Steem on!

Ah you have a gorgeous clear voice for a clear and cold night. Very impressed you can manage the fingerpicking out there in the cold - I played an outdoor gig at a snowboard big air contest once and half way through more or less couldn't play my guitar any more. Really beautiful cover, love the way it builds up slowly. You rock!

Thanks!
If you ever find yourself in a situation like that again I recommend wearing a lot of clothes. Not just warm fingerless gloves but being warm all over the body. This way you get warm blood to your hands all the time and it makes all the difference. Iv managed to play (without freezing) 8hour shifts in about -10C (14 F) although not in windy conditions...

Thanks for letting me know! My two music posts so far has gotten a boost already by this :) thanks for that! Think you picked a good segment to share and I like your use of words!
Looked briefly at the other authors and your doing great work! Ill look more deeply into them when I have the time :)

When you get a chance, leave a comment in reply to the showcase post and I will vote it up to the top to get you more exposure there as well :) Keep on rocking!

Much love - Carl

That’s some cool work your doing there! Great ide and super nice content <3
