Vignette - a comforting time with nature (a reflection I wrote after some time in the woods)

in #nature7 years ago

She ran mindlessly along the woodchip path, with trees on either side becoming a blur through her teary eyes. The sun still shone and the leaves still flourished green, yet a cold wind ran through the trees, chilling her breath. Finally she found her outlet from the world, promising her solitude. She following a small path which opened out onto the edge of a large pond. Sitting on her red flannel on the muddy ground with her head down she could finally release the pent up tension in her head.

As her breath slowed and her mind cleared she started feeling nature's embrace. Eyes shut, she listened to individual bird chirps around the pond, constant chirping of crickets, rustling of the grasses and leaves. For each sound a shape emerged, a color, a feeling. Each song started to intertwine with another and soon she heard them all at once. Creating an orchestra of nature's purities.

With a loud croak, a frog jumped in the water leaving a splash behind. Startled, she opened her eyes. She turned around, and with some effort, she saw other small critters in the pond grasses. She sat long enough to watch multiple frogs jump out of the water, close enough for her to see the freckles on their backs. She saw more and more little bugs crawling up and down the grasses, floating around the few remaining flowers, emerging from underneath leaves.

She looked out onto the pond, seeing the ripples of sunlight reflection. The cool wind kissed her cheeks and tousled her hair. She felt comforted.

That was very cool. After reading that, I closed my eyes and I could hear all the nature sounds surrounding me. An orchestra filled with tranquility. Keep your toes pointing up.

thanks, that means a lot :)

It was good work. You should be told you've done well. Looking forward to more...
