BIG NEWS! The solo viola piece that I wrote for the virtual composition camp had its premiere 3 days ago and it was awesome🥰 My piece was put towards the end of the program order, which was quite exciting to wait😄

For those who don't know the background of this, I recently participated in a 2-week virtual composition camp for which I was required to write a new piece for a solo instrument. After much hard work and throwing 4 compositions to trash, I was able to come up with one that I like at the end and I'm very proud of it!! The camp was an amazing experience for me. Not only I had a first professional recording and world premiere of my own composition, but I gained tons of knowledge throughout the process.

Despite being virtual, the concert was unforgettable. Hearing other brilliant young composer's pieces was truly an eye-opening thing. I was quite amazed by all the talent and creativity flowing throughout the concert. When it was my turn, however, I couldn't stop myself from sweating since my excitement level was rapidly increasing 😅

I think my performer made a really good job. The piece sounded amazing I think, though the tempo at which she played was slower than my original tempo. However, it was on me since the piece I wrote was definitely not the most playable piece on the viola. Naturally, she had to take the tempo down to be able to play in tune which was totally fine.
I will upload my premiere video tomorrow on my Youtube channel so that I will be able to share the link here later😊
