If you were one of the unlucky numbers to miss out on McDonald's Rick and Morty Szechuan Sauce before, then your luck has made a turn for the better.

In the season premiere of the third season of Rick and Morty, Rick Sanchez revealed his diabolical passion for McDonalds' Szechuan Sauce, a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets which was created to promote Disney's MULAN and was only available for a limited time. Somehow, this sparked a craze for the long-discontinued sauce and McDonalds actually brought it back last October. Unfortunately, they vastly underestimated the demand and the end result was bidding wars, riots, and a lot of unhappy Rick and Morty fans.

That one mention, that one skit, changed McDonald’s for a generation. It made us all remember what we’d lost back in 1998 without even realizing it. And, with that one riff on a far-flung moment back in our collective childhood, Rick Sanchez changed our lives forever. In fact, Szechuan sauce became such a hot topic after Rick & Morty series three aired – with thousands upon thousands craving some of the long-gone condiment – that the American fast food chain brought back a limited run last year.

Beginning Monday at noon, customers across the country still bitter about the sauce shortage will be able to get their hands on one (or two, or several) of the restaurant's 20 million packets of sauce made popular by the Adult Swim TV show "Rick and Morty."

The sauce – a mix of garlic, chili peppers and Szechuan peppers – will be available with a qualifying menu item while supplies last.

In the official announcement, McDonald's admits to being surprised by the initial demand the first time around.

"Last October, we truly meant well when we brought back a super-limited batch of Szechuan Sauce, but it quickly became apparent we did not make enough to meet the expectations of our fans. We did not anticipate the overnight crowds, the cross-state travel, and the amazing curiosity, passion and energy fans showed. Our super-limited batch, though well-intentioned, clearly wasn’t near enough to meet that demand. We disappointed fans and we are sorry. To fully make amends, we felt it was important to not only bring back much more sauce this time but to also admit our mistakes, answer questions and give fans access to the story behind the story."

To coincide with the re-release, McDonald’s is producing a three-episode podcast to give wronged fans a proper explanation of what happened, which is maybe taking the publicity stunt one step too far.

The podcast, called The Sauce, will feature real interviews with the chain’s corporate executives and Chef Mike, angered Sauce lovers and even electronic DJ Deadmau5 for a glimpse into what happened’.

The bad news is that Szechuan is only being rolled out in chains around North America, as far as we can tell, and supplies will only last for a short while if the hype is the same as last time.
