Some photos for #marblecontest by @frankiecur.
By chance, wandering around Rome, I ended up by St. Peter's in the late evening. The basilica was closing, but I managed to take some pictures of the colonnade. This first picture is a small "coincidence" noticed from my point of view, that popped up between the monolithic marble columns: "I can", a little anglophone encouragement certainly an extract from the word "Vatican".
The square was designed by Bernini in the seventeenth century, taking into account the meticulous religious symbolism wanted by the Pope, the position of the pre-existing buildings and what should have been the final function of the square. The result was a trabeated colonnade around an oval square.
Bernini, calibrating the structure with geometric calculations and perspective illusions, designed the arrangement of the columns by aligning them on the radii of the ellipse, which center is identified by the famous round tile in the floor of the square. A spectator who crosses the square will thus have the optical effect of the columns opening and closing, ingeniously planned ad hoc.

In the reflection of a puddle, easily generated by a fountain under the colonnade, it is possible to see the Tuscan-style capital, which supports a thick architrave with a marble frame. I know nothing about the origin of the chandeliers, but they seem to be made of cast iron.

I love how this says, "I Can" in amongst the other things going on... Cannot unsee it! Congratulations on a well-executed shot...

Thanks a lot! It was mere luck that i noticed it. There's lot of interesting details going on in that square!

Did you notice it when you set up the shot? Or later when proofing? Just curious...

When i set the shot. You can tell by the fact i placed it according to the rule of thirds eheheh!
