The demise of summer. Original Photography.

in #magicalmoments7 years ago (edited)

The morning
The rains came down.
Mother Earth smiled again.
~Slight adaptation of Carl Sigman.

Photography is not something I can force. And for weeks now I haven't felt the slightest inclination to photograph anything. Do you ever have long dry spells like this?

But after endless weeks of hot sultry days and sleepless summer nights, gentle sweet rain has blessed the earth of Sydney once again. And waking to the soft sounds of rain and the fragrance of the earth: I knew it was time for a mini-holiday.

I set off, not knowing exactly where I was going. It didn't matter as long as I could walk in the rain again ~ With my Sony.

I had the feeling that wherever I went, it was going to be magical. I was heading towards the local lake, but thought I'd just take a quick detour to see if the dried creek bed was flowing again.

Short story because the longer one is still coming.

Within moments I was no longer in 'familiar' bushland, but an Enchanted Forest radiating more magic that a mere mortal like myself could possibly breathe in.

I'm making a short video from the photographs taken of my journey, crossing the swollen creek to the opposite escarpment. In the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy the beauty of this rose that I saw along the way.

I have dry spells every now and then, but as soon as I see something visually appealing I’m back on track. Nature is my heaven of peace too, so I can really correlate. Beutiful rose, and those droplets are making it even more beautiful.

Yes. Nature's beauty really brings out, or brings back our creative spirit.

I tend to think of 'dry spells' as being our incubation times. It may appear as if nothing is happening on the surface, but on a deeper level millions of impressions and ideas are dancing around each other ~ And when the time is right their dance can be performed and shared with others.

The rain was so fine, but on the rose it looked like it had been torential. 🌹

Love hearing about this weather that contrasts so arduously with our European ice pushing spring out of reach for now. Shall be soaking up more of your impressions (getting Australian neighbours in our street soon).

I hope your Spring comes soon now Sukhasanasister. Maybe you'll appreciate it all the more for the long wait. Be nice to those new Aussie neighbours and they may become friends for life. 🦋

Nice to hear from you again Ally. Glad you're feeling like taking some photographs.

It's hard to imagine it being so hot as it's been unusually cold here. Even snowed today.

Beautiful photo of the rose. Do you know about @adrianobalan's Open Rose Weekend contest? It would make a lovely entry, 😍

Has been perfect for photography Gillian. I used to love our Aussie Summers, but now I head for cover all the time when it gets too hot to handle. Hope you are enjoying the snow ~ At least the beautiful white visuals. I do from across the ocean.

I've been in such overwhelm with Steemit once again. As you can see I can't keep up with responding to people. But feel like I'm slowly accomplishing a few things: Like finding out how easy it was to upload a video to D.TUBE. But now one of the looming overwhems is that I need to learn how to use a *proper *video editor. Been wanting to make proper videos with my art for literally years and have finally outgrown Animoto.

Another overwhem is fathoming DADA. At the moment researching if I can get a digital pen that runs on batteries, as I don't like to think about the consequences of using a wifi pen for hours at a time.

I think you could possibly enjoy DADA too. https://dada.nyc/ But don't let it take you away from the attic. How's it going? 🦋

I've not been in the attic at all @allyinspirit. It's been way too cold. However, things have warmed up a bit the last couple of days so I may return soon.

I've been in of a slump the last couple of weeks but its beginning to lift a bit now. As I said in another post I feel I need to get back on the unfolding path.

I don't envy you all your learning. It's not fun when it feels overwhelming. DADA looks interesting but I'm not going to look too closely. 😁 I'm trying to reduce the time spent at my computer and keeping up with Steemit is already taking more than I'd like it too.

I think I'm just going to have to accept that I may not be able to read every post of those I follow nor make all the comments I would like to. Otherwise the enjoyment goes out of it.

Take care of yourself and take time to smell the roses! 😁 Couldn't resist it!

I hear you 100% Gillian. If I have to make a choice between DADA and pastel ~ My heart will go with the pastel. But I'd love to master drawing with a tablet too. Maybe next lifetime as I don't have as many hours as I would need, in this one. 😁

I also want to reduce the time I'm spending at my computer. We have an EMF protector for the entire house which is supposed to protect us from all wifi and appliances, but I'm feeling more and more that literally staring at a screen can't be good for our total well being ~ Regardless of EMFs or not.

I think one solution, for me anyway is to write shorter posts and shorter responses. But I don't seem to be able to do it.

And reading every post? Mission impossible.

Back to going with the flow of life. I try to go with the flow now of what is presented at any particular time I'm here ~ With a knowing that that is what I'm meant to see and then choose if/how to respond. Maybe between the two of us we can agree that a 'Great mate' reply means so much more but we value each other's time. 💖⚖️💖

I think this is the perfect way to go about it @allyinspirit.:

"With a knowing that that is what I'm meant to see and then choose if/how to respond."

Please never feel any pressure to write or respond to my posts. I appreciate it when you do but I do not want to add any stress at all. When I do not hear from you I am more concerned that you are well and enjoying life than the fact that you have not left a comment. 💙 😍

So, yes, let's just trust that we are doing perfectly by each other and are here for each other if needs be. 💖

💖 GREAT mate.💖

I think, after I've done the other 'things' I was plannning to do today, or sometime in the middle of it all, I'll write a post on Aussie idiums including Beauty Mate and Great Mate which may help explain my abbreviated responses from now on.

I have really enjoyed this conversation with you Gillian and feel we have both resolved something ~ Maybe it's still and always will be ongoing ~ But little resolutions will lead to the fuller ones too. 💖

Just do what you do @allyinspirit. It all works for me! 💖

I can almost smell the fragrance of the rose!
Nice!

Thanks so much @mhm-philippines. Yes, the fragrance of a deep pink or red rose stays in our memory, to become known to us once again, when we see or even think about such a beautiful rose. 🦋

You are very tallented. Excelent point of view. Your passion is something that will bring you happiness after years :)

There aren't many flowers in our neighbourhood this time of the year @azen. So it was wonderful to see this rose, all the more beautiful for being clothed in raindrops.

I think it's true that those who have a passion for nature, will find happiness in the smallest of her wonders. 🌹

Thanks so much @pixresteemer. I've missed a few as I've been out photographing our local bushland lately. Will catch up again now. 🦋
