The process of adapting to changes and losses

in #life7 years ago

I want to recommend a good author of a useful book; Melody Beatty !

The author sets forth in his book thoughts and feelings of co-addicts and shows how one can, with the help of lifestyle changes, enter a regime of practically healthy existence.

The process of adapting to changes and losses requires energy. Woe is devastating and exhausting us.

According to Pat Carnes, some people are forced to "hide themselves in the cocoon to get out changed," while working with grief.

It's okay to be gentle to yourself when we go through change and grief. We can be compassionate towards ourselves. We should not expect more from ourselves than we can give, at this time. We do not even have to expect the same from ourselves as we could reasonably have given.

Perhaps we need more rest, more sleep, more comfort. We can need more than usual, and give less than usual. It is normal to accept yourself, your needs, when we change, in times of grief and stress.

It is normal to allow yourself to "hide in a cocoon" in times of change . We can capitulate before the process and believe that a new exciting energy is born in us.
