Suicide and Depression... Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about

Dear Dad,
I love you.
I'm sorry.

That's what she wrote on her suicide note. She was only 16...

Dear Depression,

Please stay away from my friend. We love him so much. Everyone here cares for him. Stay away, you're a troublemaker!

Stop making him feel like the world is so heavy. He can't hold it all on his shoulders. Stop making him feel that he can't do anything right. He might be lost now, but it will get better. He will get through this.

Hey Depression, my friend is in pain. A lot of things are going through his head right now. He's heart is aching. He is confused because of you. He can't understand how or why you're making him feel the way you do.

I don't know how I can handle seeing him like this. All I can say to him is to keep his head up high because none of this really mean anything. You're just a midnight voices in his head, you're nothing!

He used to be the bright light in many people's lives. But because of you, he's in the darkest place right now. I want him still to be the light at the end of the tunnel for us. So please, stop pretending you have the answers. You're making him sick!

He used to be the strongest man I know. Now you're making him terrified and vulnerable. Stop telling him to jump off the building or fastened a rope, and be dead. Would you be happier if he's dead?

He is not a burden to other people. Please stop saying that to him. Don't come and walk around to say that to him. He's in so much pain. He may not show it coz he hold it all in. Hey Depression, you're a difficult thing to live with.

He is worthy of love. He is worth more than anything. He is strong, he is amazing. So please... Please let him go. Don't delete his existence.

-A caring friend

UPVOTED

which one? the video? addy coursen suicide. the letter? I wrote that for a friend who was comtemplating suicide.

bigat naman...huh@! hope he's ok now....

ang ganda ng pagkagawa mo:) kahit sad topic sya:)

Yeah he needs more time to recover. They said, "Time heals". Pwdeng months, pwdeng years, depende sa tao.

Pero sana soon. Kahit hinde kaya, sana kayanin. Kahit mahirap, sana maging madali. Salamat sa kumento, na-appreciate ko. 😊

Depression is something some people do not exactly understand. They think it is mere sadness. It involves not emotions alone, rather mentally. The sad thing about mental illness is the stigma associated to it.

Exactly. That's why if I don't understand something, I would do my research to satisfy my curiousity. My friend who was contemplating suicide was broken hearted. I wrote that letter for him. His soon to be wife (fiance) called the wedding off coz she cheated on him. She admitted all these after they already booked the reception, caterig services, etc.

That's the best quote I have read in recent times, it is the people around you who can make you feel happier or who can make you feel disturbed. Awesome writeup.

Yeah, from the late awesome actor I know, Robin Williams. That's why we have to surround ourselves with people who will lift us up and make us feel that we are not alone. Staying in a miserable relationship sucks, gotta leave asap once you felt sad.

Depression that seems to be the plaque of our century affects so many people. These people who need to be understood, accompanied in the journey of rediscovering the meaning of their lives, and to overcome these overwhelming feelings.

It's a serious mental illness that could happen to anyone when triggered. Say a loss of a loved one, being bullied, recession, etc. "Plaque" indeed... In the past 7 years or so, I'm seeing a lot of news about young people who hang themselves or take poison just coz they were being bullied. They are so weak and we can't blame them for their feelings coz the media and the society have a great impact why they became like that. What we can contribute to them is simply, being extra nice just like the video on my post. It could changed someone's life...

That is an amazingly beautiful post. Thank you. I just this second posted a poem up that I just wrote as I find writing poetry helps keeps my depression in check . And I agree with Robin Williams completely on that quote. I understand it with my heart and soul.

Thanks @hopehuggs! Your username is lovely as you are! I read your poem, I can feel that it's coming from the heart. :-)

Such a nice post...whatever the situation we can still stay strong and fight depression. ...fighting depression shows u just how strong u are

Yeah but it's not easy to fight for someone who is suffering mental illness

Absolutely amazing post. Depression, to me is one of the most ignored ails by parents. They spend so much time working ,forgetting their children might be faced with it. It is really a sad state to be in and the only way out ,i believe is to surround yourself with people who care about you. I find myself in this state almost everyweek and it is my little siblings who get me out every time. Life is too stop to get depressed and one thing i have observed is, it doesnt matter who you are, it can get to you.

Absolutely! If you surround yourself with positive people, people who make you truly happy and care for you, then you won't feel sad or depressed. Sometimes it's a state of mind. Remember, you are what you think...

I have been suffering from depression in a long time. Everyone would say, "live a life, you're just wasting your energy and so on.." but when you're into it, it is very hard to get away. " People who are suffering from this illness need attention, care and understanding...more than anything else. Trust me! Thank you for the light!

I know where you coming from because my friend feels the same way too. No words of wisdom can lift up someone who is depressed. Just like you said, this illness needs a lot of TLC. Thanks for sharing for story. Stay strong! :))

Wow...So heavy.

hey brother, yeah... It's a serious topic I know. A close friend of mine was thinking about it and it's freaking disturbing! If only I can be in the same room with him, I will tie him up so he won't do anything stupid.

he is depressed, maybe he needs counselling? urge him to see a doctor. A tip is when you are suggesting to see psychiatrist, always consider that depression is actually a medical condition.

well its true that depression has been traditionally connected to mental illness ! But when you see the level to which our society is broken by serious mismanagement and the projection of self over others ! Its not so ridiculous to see that even a person that is not subject to a medical depression could still find him or herself with a feeling of not being able to face their lives and the spiral begins there !

The society was broken not only by the management but by all humans who live on it. We have to stop blaming others, we should take our own responsibilities too.

Actually, there's no single word of wisdom that can light him up. I suggested to see a doctor and he said to me, "I'm not fucking crazy!". But he is kinda crazy. :-(
