2 Month Check In (May - July '18)steemCreated with Sketch.

in #life6 years ago

Hello all,

More of a check-in for myself. I've recently experienced a lack of motivation- there are days where half my check-list is not complete. My goal for this blog is to seriously look at what I've accomplished, where I am seriously lacking, and where I have room to improve. I need to take more time to appreciate the opportunities I have received, and be more in the moment- instead of acknowledging and moving on. For each of these pillars, I will write down where I am lacking in this blog- and longer term goals in my daily goals book, without sharing them publicly.

Academically -
Graduate from University - Bachelors, took 5 years of my life.
Read 3.5 books (Rise & Grind/Performing Under Pressure/The Millionaire Next Door/The Day the King Defaulted. Last year I read 0 books in the same time period.

Where am I lacking- I'm sitting in almost a lull period, where I'm done school- but haven't started my Chartered Professional Accounting Modules (Sept). Of the 7 days a week - my brain is only truly engaged for maybe 2-3 days a week, probably less. That's kind of shitty. I want to focus on more critical thinking and problem solving on a more regular basis - 5 days a week. (1 Goal)

Physically -
I was 100% on track for 1 Month 3 weeks - 6 days of working out + cardio training a week. I didn't work out this time last year. Dropped 8 lbs while increasing my strength. Dress pants still feel too tight though...

Where am I lacking - I don't put in the same amount of effort when training my lower body compared to my upper body.
My lower body has a lot of room for improvement in terms of strength. I want to focus on adjusting my routine to position myself to engage my lower half. (2 Goals)

Personally -
I'm a more focused person - my daily goals book has been charted the night before 92.8% in the last 2+ months (5/70 missed) Important to note that those days are lack-luster/lot of transition time wasted/unfocused.
I'm still writing on Steemit- 9 weeks in.

Where am I lacking - I had clear passive income streams I wanted to initiate or at least try. I am not taking enough action to seize what I truly want. Review my previous PIS - and write down steps to re initiate. (2 Goals)

Career-Wise -
I was able to secure a part time role as a research assistant for the Schulich School of Business in May.
New job in September. Of my 5 pillars, this one needs the least amount of focus currently.

Socially - I've made more of an effort to go out and enjoy time with my friends more than usual. I say "yes" instead of making excuses.

Where am I lacking- I should party more.
On a more serious note: I want to focus on creating and maintaining relationships with friends old and new. If I'm the average of the 5 people I spend most of my time with - is that someone I want to be? (2 Goals)

Will re-evaluate in 2 months time. This was an interesting video I recently watched - Why you shouldn't tell people your goals- adopting that style here.

Quick Summary - Sharing your goals gives you a sense of achievement - your brain can mistake your talking as doing- and you experience a lack of motivation. Write them down instead.

"Work in silence, let success make the noise".

Cheers,
Victor
