[DTube Life] Are You a Genius? Left Brain vs Right Brain - or Both?

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Are you a right brianer? Are you a left brainer? Are you secretly a genius? Let's find out :)

One thing I've been really interested in over the years is the workings of the brain. After studying psychology, I got extremely interested in neurology. Not enough to get my doctorates, but enough to read dozens of books on the subject. Trying to figure out how my own brain worked and how to maximize it, my mom saw my interest and got me this book called "Why Right Brainers will Rule the World." So I began obsessing over my right brain functions. As I continued my studies on the brain however, studies have shown recently that the marks of a true genius have both left/right brain functions. So you'll often find that visionaries (right brainers) will go nowhere in life unless they can organize their thoughts (logic) in a way to execute the plants. Let's talk about it more indepth in the video :)

Let me know if you're a right brain or a left brain! Work on both! You just may be a genius!

Hey guys and gals, I’ve been a student of life and love to learn new things. I've studied film, acting (film and theatre), Natural Medicines, Psychology, Business and Photography. I’ve read over 2,000 different books and consume at least 50 new books a year. I also owned and operated a Consultancy Firm for about 3 years and was a professor for Personal Development for one of the leading schools in the field called John Robert Powers. Aside from working with over 3 fortune 500 companies, I’ve also owned and operated over 4 businesses. Along with that, I've travelled all over Europe, South America and Asia doing non-profit work for Orphanages and shelters. I also speak from time to time to Youth Groups and Churches. I hope that some of these personal life lessons add value to your life.

I believe that success is not our final destination. I don’t believe in failure, I believe in learning from mistakes. I believe that it’s okay to be obsessed. It’s evidence of passion in your life.

Agreed. It such a wasted if we don't use both. We maybe good at one side of brain than the other side but it doesn't mean that the other side is not functioning. I think I'm more to the right brainer because I love arts but I also kinda good at numbers and I studied science and economics

@atikahnoh You have said it well, on why both the right and left side are very unique yet needed for maximum functioning.

Let me say this.....

A perfect example, for me, is myself. I am right-brained and wife is left-brained.

The combo has been marvelous. When reckless vision meets detailed logic, magic, i believe, is born.

Yeah that’s very true. For a long time people have thought one or the other, but we’re now discovering that both are needed for full use of our potential! :) brilliant comment!

I agree, that both brains are important for developing into a person that can achieve their goals to the fullest. I think each of us has a certain strength, one side of the brain over the other, but by exercising it, the weaker can catch up to the stronger, and who knows maybe even surpass it. A lot of times we don't know our strengths until we focus our attention on developing something different.

Yes very true. I do agree that it's important to use both sides of the brain. However there is little chance to turn a weakness and somehow train it to surpass a strength. It just doesn't work that way. You can develop a weakness into something mediocre, but you can develop a strength into excellence. I think I'll do a video on this. Thanks for giving me a video idea! Lol

I guess what you're saying is true, I just think weaknesses can be turned into strengths. For instance I'm not very good at guitar, and I'm a decent singer, but the more I practice guitar the better I get, and one day I could be a better guitar player than singer. But for the most part you're correct.

Sorry, It is not a question of using left or right. It is not a question of training and using both sides of the brain. The question is how did your brain develop. And if your brain is developed without being trained , than you are genius.

Okay. How can a brain develop without training or any outside stimulation though? All experiences and training in life accumulate to form the neuro-pathways that eventually create geniuses.

I am working with brain and language. And I have diffrent definition of Training and learning. You are born perfect. You only need certain surroundings to devolpe your full capacity, like security and emotions. And that is not Training or given Stimulations from outside. Training is not learning. It is dressage. The brain makes neuro connections by it self or you can force them = conditioning. But a real genius is creating and learning by himself. The Problem is to understand that all that makes a genius is not to pass a test. I like your video.... There is nothing wrong about it..... sorry I can not express myself very good.....english is not my language. I would recommand a book of a brain researcher but it is not available in english.

Imagination is the most important thing.

Add to this that those on the spectrum of Autism have higher theta wave activity in the right side of the brain. Usually these waves are associated with REM sleep, hypnosis, lucid dreaming, etc. Feel like you may be on the spectrum? take up Lucid Dreaming (the practice of controlling dreams) and maybe you can master the storm that is your brain connecting image after images together.

Oh that's right! Good point. I've never actually trained for Lucid dreaming. Have you?

outstanding ovation

I am not a genius but you make nice video :) Like :D

My thoughts allways seem all over he place connecting dots :D

You're probably like me, bro! lol
