Dreams

When we sleep, at a certain stage dreams occurs involuntarily as a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensation. The message most dreams conveys are misunderstood, though it has taken under scientific analysis and some religious reviews, as well as a subject continuously discussed in philosophy throughout history. The interpretations of dreams is the attempt at trying to draw meaning from ones dreams, searching for a message hidden beneath the surface. The study of dreams scientifically is called "ONEIROLOGY."

Dreams occurs around when the body experiences the "Rapid-Eye Movement" (REM), a stage when the brain activity is high and the brain makes it appears like its awake. During this period of sleep the REM sleep takes place by the eye moving continuously like it were awake causing the REM sleep. Most times dreams does not necessarily take place during the REM sleep, ass it sometimes happen outside time period during other time period during sleep, which are not very clear and memorable.

The length of dreams vary; some may last only few seconds, and some roughly twenty (20) to Thirty (30) minutes. Dreams that most people have and are awakened from during the REM phase will more likely be remembered by the individual. And it can be said that an average person have about three (3) to five (5) dreams every night, while some have as much as seven dreams some nights. most dreams are instantaneous and are quickly forgotten. Dreams tends to last longer with the progression of the night, most occur during the two hours of the REM of the total 8 hours every night.

Ideas have varied with time and culture pertaining dreams meaning and interpretation. Several people have accepted the Freudian theory of Dreams - "that dreams reveal insight into Hidden desires and emotions."
it is also recorded that dreams helps in the formation of memory and also in problem solving as people tend to believe that dreams are direct messages from the gods that helps predict the events of the future. Approximately 5000 years ago the first dream record was acquired from materials such as the clay tablet during the Mesopotania era. During the Greco-Roman time period, dreams were believed to be messages from the gods (a form of prophecy).

Sigmund Freud system created the psychological discipline of psychoanalysis, he wrote extensively about the theories and interpretations of dreams in the 1900s. He described dreams as ones deepest desires and anxieties. most of which he says are from ones childhood memories and obsessions.

Moreover, he believed that well-nigh each dream subject, despite its content, represented the release of sexual tension. Within the Interpretation of goals (1899), Freud developed a psychological procedure to interpret goals and devised a sequence of instructional materials to appreciate the symbols and motifs that appear in our dreams. In present day times, goals have been noticeable as a connection to the unconscious intellect. They variety from ordinary and common to overly surreal and weird. Dreams can have various natures, such as being scary, enjoyable, magical, melancholic, adventurous, or sexual. The routine in dreams are traditionally outside the manage of the dreamer, with the exception of lucid dreaming, where the dreamer is self-conscious.

Dreams can at times make a creative thought occur to the person or give a sense of inspiration.

I remember one time in a philosophy class back then when I was in year one.
The lecturer gave a question asking " how do we know that we are not dreaming now ".
I became lost in thought.
Dah! In my mind, as a freshman I was like, sir, pls don't come and scatter my head here oooo

Lol philosophy can really mess with our minds especially it's hypotheses.

Am telling you.

Hello!
Dreams sure are fascinating honestly, I think that a number of dream theories have truth to them.
The Iroquois believe that its another entire world and that your soul speaks its desires to you through your dreams. I like this interpretation, and I think that they reveal your unconscious. I also believe that sometimes dreams prepare you for the future or help you learn how to defeat fear. Could they even predict the future???
Only more questions!
Thanks for this informative and quality post! <3

Dreams and it's theories sometimes could be distorting, most times the theories are confusing. I too have questions and I'm still doing more research on the topic

I think the research on this topic could be endless because no one has found difinitive answers yet. Honestly, can you define scientifically such an abstract and spiritual occuance? Im not sure.

I doubt doubt.
Hence a continuous research on the subject matter.
Everyday we keep learning.
Heard of a theory that was trashed out scientifically after years of acceptance.

why
Because as technology and knowledge evolve, some theory's or hypothesis becomes invalid not standing the test of time

hmm, so in some years their will be a need to make further research on this subject.

True.
Maybe, just maybe we would look into it, who knows, we might win a noble prize

Lol, Nobel Prize for metaphysics

Hehehe.
E dey happened naw

To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:

Ask again later

are we really asleep

Hello @candy...
Very interesting... You have provided a detailed explanation about dreams. In addition to this, dreams most of the times requires spiritual understanding especially those set of dreams that usually come to pass. Nicely written
