Living in the virtual world became reality!

More fun on the screen means less fun in the real world

I was doing my job when suddenly heard my colleague shouting “...yes, I got cha! I knew I catch ya!” I wasn’t aware what he was doing but after he told me I got socked. I couldn't believe it. He was playing with this Pokemon game in the office!

Is this really happening? People are going to live in the virtual world from now on more and more? Social media has affected our lives already. An example if you look around while commuting you will see that people stopped talking to each other. Instead they are playing games on their phones, checking their social media sites and such...

To be honest with you I would never swap my childhood with the new generation of kids. I was hanging on trees like Tarzan, played with Barbie dolls and other different outdoor ball games in the park with a bunch of kids. There was no question if I wanted to stay indoors or be outside even in the rain.

But what I see now is terrifying. Kids do not socialize (adults neither) as before. They have got their tablets, laptops, PCs as their best friends. Of course there are always exceptions but now I am talking about the majority. Even if I look at my cousins 7 out of 7 don't go anywhere at all just choose to stay at home and play games on their laptops all day long. It just doesn’t look right to me because we human beings were designed to interact with other.

I worked in hospitality and I experienced the difference between generations. While a young couple aged between 18-45 had no intention of talking to each other and were busy with their phones, elderly people were sitting hands in hands talking for hours. Isn't that sweet?!

I do not have to say the disadvantages of that virtual lifestyle. It's absolutely unhealthy. People gain weight mainly because they stopped moving. Having a few extra kg won’t harm us but unfortunately it does not stop there. After a certain time we will have type 1, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc..

I do not have any children yet, but for sure I would rather play with them outdoors than catching virtual pokemons especially on the roads where some terrible accidents happened already I just heard in the news.

I am not blaming technology and I am aware of its usefulness, but we mustn’t forget who we are and have a break sometimes off screen.

I hope you enjoyed reading it!
