The New Man: His Social and Existential Dilemma

Hello there. Let's talk about us!

For centuries, man has thrived to understand the habitat in which he woke up in some million years ago. We've studied; understood, propounded theories and hypotheses, created specialised disciplines and professions that operates based on these standardised knowledge of the mechanisms of the earth - and the various successes recorded have been tremendous and profound.

Nonetheless, the more we think we know about the earth, the more elusive it becomes.

Now and then, new species of organisms spring into existence. Climate change alters existing knowledge of the climate system. Thus, established knowledge is being challenged; and man, driven by curiosity and thirst for knowledge, power, dominance and discovery, is doomed to prune and pry the vast ocean of the unknown set before him - maybe for eternity.

And while still at, the searchlight turns back to us - how much do we know about ourselves?

The 21st century perhaps, marks the foremost era where we all witnessed the greatest shake-up in our understanding of humanity. Prior to this era, we were used to the binary sexual orientation and gender rights defined and moderated by patriarchy.

We assumed that we were pre-programmed into males and females, with generic roles allocated to each of our genders until... Boom! There comes the wave of gender equality - a surge of feminine consciousness targeted at clipping patriarchy at the jugular.

And while the world is still enmeshed in this gender tug of war... Boom! We had the homosexuals and transgenders - an awkward reality that seems to disrupt every logic and norms of species' natural cohabitation, and by doing so, questions our acclaimed knowledge of nature and natural order. What is natural?

But the big question is: What does these development spell for the future of humanity?

On one hand, more people are getting enlightened and joining in the struggle of gender equality, irrespective of the gender. Feminism is on the high rise; women are fast covering the tracks set forth by men.

On the other hand, LGBT are gaining grounds. Few years from now, most of the remaining nations yet to accept the new reality will eventually fall face over due to, maybe, economic sanctions or the need to feel 'developed' and 'modernised'.

And what more? There is a social pressure to adopt and adapt to this new waves. The society might become gender fluid, and no one would any longer be identified by his or her sex.

And who knows, with women breaking records and covering major grounds in many spheres of endeavour, the 'future might certainly be female': pregnant with more uncertainties.

The battle to be faced by the new man is massive. And his choices, decisions and actions will set forth a new path for posterity....
