 Many of these countries are not as well known, however, they are no less unique and original.
Here are some interesting facts about these countries which you may not have known.

Kiribati


Kiribati is the only country in the world, located in all hemispheres.
As Kiribati is composed of many small Islands scattered across the Pacific ocean, its territory is located in all four hemispheres (Northern, southern, Eastern and Western).

 Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is a country with the largest number of languages.

There are about 12 percent of the total number of languages in the world.

Although in most languages says less than 1,000 people in Papua New Guinea , home to just 6.5 million people, used more than 800 indigenous languages. 

 Greenland

Greenland can't join FIFA because it is impossible to grow grass for the field.
Because of the climate in the country the land is mainly covered by ice or permafrost, making it virtually impossible growing enough herbs for a standard football field. Most of the games is just dirt or gravel.

(And Yes, Greenland is not actually an independent country). 

 Ethiopia

In Ethiopia still follow the calendar that is 7 years behind the world.
According to the Ethiopian calendar 2007, which began on 11 September 2014 in the Gregorian calendar.

Because of the strong influence of the Coptic Church in the country, the traditional calendar is more important in Ethiopia. This calendar appeared in the 16th century, when the majority of Christians changed the date of the alleged birth of Jesus, in Ethiopia decided to leave the original date.

Due to temporary differences, the country was celebrating the new Millennium in 2008, i.e. 7 years later the rest of the world. 

 Micronesia

On one of the Islands of Micronesia as the currency used huge stones.
The federated States of Micronesia is a country composed of many Islands located in the Pacific ocean, including the island of YAP.

On YAP, instead of the traditional paper currency money is the huge limestone discs, stones Rai, which are considered rare and valuable, as they are extracted from another far away island. Of course, the size of these stones makes them difficult to move, so in most cases, payment is based on an oral agreement, not a physical exchange.

The small island nation Niue, located in the middle of the Pacific ocean that is home to only about 1,200 inhabitants, is one of the most isolated in the world. Although the self-governing state, it maintains connections with New Zealand. This includes the issuance of coins in Niue.

Coins Disney was released in 2014, and although theoretically the cost is $ 25 in the currency of Niue, the actual value is much higher, and the rare coin can be worth $ 40,000.  

 Bhutan

Since 1973, Bhutan has introduced a policy of measuring the Gross National Happiness (GNH).

The concept was introduced to measure quality of life, including moral values, protection of cultural traditions and equitable life for all.
