Before going to sleep - Super Natural Writing Contest (SWC)

in #jerrybanfield7 years ago (edited)

Our mothers have always told us that it is not good to be wake up until hours of the morning, because it damages our schedule sleeping and also unexplainable things happen. Damian, worked on his own as a writer for a variety magazine, he was not at the dream job, but it gave him to live with certain comforts, and he could take advantage of free time and nights to work on personal projects. He has always preferred to write and investigate paranormal phenomena, those things catch his curiosity, for the diversity of their nuances that he uses as inspiration for his works.

Damian was tired, due to a long day of work, but even though he was already at home, sitting in front of the monitor, he knew that the work was not over yet, it was already three in the morning. He was writing about night terrors for his job, which called lot his attention cause the disability of the "victim", of taking control over his body. After a hard work night his eyelids weighed him. He felt so heavy, that he was nodding while tried to stay awake a little longer, with the firm conviction to finish his work on time, but the fatigue was stronger, he felt heavy his body, it was like something told him to get into bed, that it was time, that he had already worked enough, just before faint on his keyboard, decided to go to the kitchen for a little water and go to bed, to rest a little his mind and continue the work the next day.

After taking a drink of water, he turned off his laptop, the light of the room and got into his bed, he did not notice anything strange or out of the regular. The only thing that seemed unusual was the cool was that night, cold to be in the middle of summer, but his fatigue was such that he did not stop to think too much about it, and he just try to sleep. Damian closed his eyes, the tiredness was so huge that the poor man fell asleep, in a matter of seconds, he fell into a very deep sleep, dreamed of any amount of nonsense, moving in his bed. His dreams went from the normal to much more scabrous. Suddenly, he found himself in a desert valley, in a partial darkness, he felt a look that was digging into his back, it was unpleasant and exasperating, he started walking through the valley looking for the way to get out of there, but in the stillness of the valley he felt footfalls behind him, his heart accelerated as he tried to flee in his mind of what he did not see, but terrified, Damian ran and ran to the end of his fertile and infinite mind, trying to find escape or refuge, his body writhing in his bed with desperation, until after a while and suddenly he recovered the consciousness, but something was wrong, his body was lying on his back and inert, motionless like solid rock, his joints were stiff as steel batons, he felt like nailed to his bed. In seconds an immeasurable anger and despair seized him, seeing that it was useless any attempt to move that rigid shell that he called body, He had to settle for just being there as a spectator, because his eyes were very open, those were the only things he could control in himself.

Eyes that scanned the totally dark room, scanning centimeter by centimeter in search of an explanation. There were only a few small beams of light, which filtered furtively through its curtains, leaving glimpse some shapes, his eyes moved quickly from side to side desperately searching and searching. Without warning, the pressure increased in his chest and his heart shuddered, seeing the way that. Suddenly it was touched by a beam of light that moved around the room, it was a dark figure, tall, ungainly of an unpleasant presence, with eyes of a blue glitter, like polished glass spheres. Damian nailed his gaze on the beautiful blue of the specter's eyes, which lay there motionless, as to the waiting as to the stalking. Although Damian felt the near danger. He could not resist it and he got lost in that beautiful blue, he was there for a couple of seconds that seemed like millennia, he felt light, like detached to his carcass. In a fragile moment of lucidity he thought; and understood that this must be the product of his imagination, there was no way that it was real, he was a protagonist of those stories that he had read. Damian made a great effort, put his mind to work and as he could, he took control of his body again.

His vision was cloudy in an instant, he opened his eyes and everything had already happened. He looked towards where the shadow was, and there was nothing there, our hero sighed in relief, took a look again, and thought - everything calmly. He felt victorious but still hesitant and nervous about the previous experience. He felt calm again, his heart slowed down, and he remembered what he was doing as a child after a nightmare, he reached out to take control of his television, with the intention of lighting it and taking refuge in the glare of screen, but the room went black, and his hand froze to centimeters of the object that he believed his salvation, everything for him was senseless, his carcass hardened again, but he was not asleep anymore, he scanned the room again with his eyes and found nothing between so much darkness, until he observed the specter perched at the head of his bed, his eyes shone like beacons in that blue tone when he saw Damian's face, eyes that little by little were dying of a spectacular intense red, he tried to scream so much that he felt that he was tearing his throat, but from his mouth any word came out, in that instant he understood that it was no longer a dream, because he was the protagonist in this lived nightmare, the spectrum moved at the foot of the bed from where It watched him as a cat like prey, without gesture pounced on his chest at an amazing speed, while our hero's body became heavier and heavier, he felt crushed by the enormous weight of the thin specter, he felt the crunch of planks of his bed, as they were going to break, panic and terror were They seized his soul while he sank little by little into his mattress.

A cold ran through his spine, like a whiplash, when he saw the red eyes of the spectrum aligned with theirs, a horror took hold of him, hill and He opened his eyes in an attempt to escape, but his casing was still rigid and his red eyes were still in the same place, a sepulchral silence took over the place, and the look of the specter merged with his as he watched. He said in a thick and crooked voice, “now we are one, and where we are going nobody can hear you scream”.
