"Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity".

in #inspiration6 years ago

King Solomon, the wisest and richest man who ever lived on earth wrote "Vanity of vanities," said the Preacher; Vanity of vanities, all is vanity. "(Ecclesiastes 1: 2) His depressing conclusions," Vanity of vanities, all is vanity, "are the product of his reflections and personal experiences. It is demoralizing, because here the term "vanity" has the meaning of "blow to the wind", "emptiness". Nothing disappoints the man more, that after working so hard on something he finds himself with a nonsense; that neither the person most favored by material goods is free from dark days and suffering.

I think we all have the time to delve into the reason of life "under the sun" with all its paradoxes and contradictions. More than one has had to think about how "unfair his existence is" because of the sacrifices he has had to make, and those who enjoy good things are the least worried; that the good man suffers and the bad man lives in delight. On the other hand, how many people have we heard saying that despite their great wealth they have no peace in their lives! Everything is a sharp dissatisfaction!

Although it is very difficult to escape this conclusion: "everything is vanity-emptiness", Solomon advises to enjoy life. It does not induce its readers to despair, because in spite of the complicated thing that happens many times, there are too many beautiful things in it, in which to enjoy oneself. Living life without waiting for everything to be perfect ... And concludes his book, saying: "The end of all speech heard is this: Fear God and keep his commandments, because this is the whole of man" (Eq. : 13).

Solomon was a man who deserted God. Therefore life for him was meaningless. Life should never be meaningless if we're Christians.

So given how wise Solomon was, for him to desert God for the gods of his foreign wives, that makes Solomon the biggest fool who ever lived.

Life is hard but God is good. I was widowed when I was 33. My first wife had kidney disease. There were complications. She lost two stillborn children. She died when she was 30. I never really questioned why. I just dealt with it as best as I could. That was a long time ago. I remarried in 1994. My first wife was saved so I know I'll see her again someday.
