We are always quick to judge people when they do things, but sometimes its not always like that, there's always a reason why they are like that, like the yorubas' will say "ti o ba ni idi, obinrin o ni je kumolu" things dont just happen, there's always a reason for everything. Let me take you on a journey, through the story of 3 teenagers;

Hadassah, Debby and Edward are young adults of about 20, 22and 24 respectively, Hadassah is very reserved, she rarely talks, and whenever she does, she would reply or talk back with a word or 2, every other time she'd nod. Debby on the other hand was outspoken, and artistic, she was friends to virtually everyone, and everyone was amazed at how intelligent she was and how young she was. And finally Edward was a bully, he was dreaded among students in his school and the little children in his area back at home, even the adults were not left out, he would throw insultive remarks at some adults he passed by or those who passed by his house. But this children were all like this for a reason, they weren't born like that.

Edward's bad attitude started from the day his father began to maltreat his mother, his father would beat his mom and go away from home for days without returning,he'd not provide feeding money either and his father used to make a statement in his presence that stuck in his brain his father always said"a man gains respect when others fear him"and Edward being a little child and naive also wanted people to respect and fear him, he wanted people to hold him in high esteem, so he began bullying others, and picking on them thinking that by so doing he was already gaining the respect and strength he needed, but little did he know that his father had planted a bad seed in him and this seed had grown so big a tree producing bad fruits. Hadassah at a very young was abused by her neighbour,everyday after he abused her he will threaten her that if she told anyone, he'll kill her, Hadassah didn't know what to do, in her little heart she knew what was being done to her was wrong and she knew she needed to talk to someone, but who could she talk to? her parents were never at home and she was left at the mercy of the neighbour whom her parents had come to love, and so her abuse continued and so she became so reserved people thought she was mute. But Debby whose parents were knowledgeable, from her little age found out what her passions were and set her foots on the right paths, they allowed her make decisions on her own only guiding her from making the wrong ones so that was the way the outspoken debby was born.

Something one way or the other influences the way some people behave, they weren't that way at some point but something contributed to it. So before you judge some people just know what the reason behind their behaviour is.

Sort:

ive always known that judging others from their physical appearance is really bad.
i think the right approach is knowing why the person started behaving like that, then you will know how to direct your judgement
